-Mt. Biking/Biking in General (I grew up racing BMX)
-Snow Boarding (whenever I can get to the damn mountains! ha! Not much snow/vertical in Florida... ) I got hooked on Snowboarding when I lived in California (Berkeley) and worked for the North Face. We had great "hook-ups" to ski/snowboard up in Tahoe "on the cheap"! Good times indeed!!
-Wakeboarding (my new love... due to the afore-mentioned "no snow/hills" issues...)
-Scuba Diving (my dad was heavily into SCUBA and one thing kinda' led to another... however I'm pretty much just an Open Water diver with a little Cavern experience... I was certified years ago in Hawaii when I was the drummer on the S.S. Independence out of Honolulu (89')

About me:
I'm the drummer for RCA Recording Artist: Chuck Wicks
I'm also one third of the fusion trio the Power Triplets, and the Program Coordinator for WGI World Indoor Drumline: INFINITY Percussion.

Thanks to the varied opportunity these fantastic artists have provided me over the past 10-15 years I've been able to amass quite a stockpile of drums/percussion/keyboards/bass and guitar cabinets as well as marching and orchestral percussion equipment. I've always harbored an interest in delving into instrument rental or "Backline" for touring professional acts. I've blathered to anyone that would listen that I "ought to get into backline" to the point that my best friend Sean Thomas was willing to take the plunge with me!
Through my long-time association with Ron Tunks Sales music manufacturer's rep for North/South Carolina, Brent Moore, Sean and I've been afforded the opportunity we'd been looking for: Brent is the founder of the Charlotte, NC based company BacklinePro, www.backlinepro.com which, for the past ten years has been recognized as the top professional instrument provider in the Carolinas. Beginning in 2006 Brent and I had periodic discussions about my interest in Backline, as well as the burgeoning opportunity to expand his existing brand into the under-served North Florida/South Georgia region. As these discussions continued over the months we began to take the preliminary steps of allocating equipment from Charlotte/procuring additional equipment via Craig's list, Ebay and the like with the intent to set up a second base of operations in Gainesville, Florida as soon as possible.
At the outset of 2008 we were finally ready to embark on this new venture: BacklinePro Florida/Georgia, and began working with artists such as Lee Brice, Toots and The Maytahls, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Whiskey Falls, Lee Boys, and Dionne Warwick among others. As mentioned, my partner in this undertaking is Sean Thomas and he's our Operations Manager. I handle the sales/promotions side of things via my year's of working both as a performer and production assistant.
We are now in second year running BacklinePro's instrument rental operations expansion. With our new warehouse in Gainesville, coupled with the main center in Charlotte, NC we are now able to service the entire eastern seaboard from Southern Virginia to the Florida Keys. * Additionally, we are associates with Scott Hinson's Total Backline, www.totalbackline.com, serving the Gulf Coast region. During 2008 we assisted Scott with shows for Tony Bennett, and Liza Minelli in the Biloxi area.
In addition to our Backline and Studio Instrument Rental Business for 2009 BacklinePro Florida/Sean and I, will be Professional Contractor Dealers for a number of music manufacturers including:
- Body Glove Instrument Cases
- Furman Sound
- Samson Audio
- Ultimate Support
- Zildjian Cymbals
Outside of business: I'm a big Gator fan (total die-hard geek), so I try to keep up with college football and basketball whenever possible. I also really love movies, and reading when I'm traveling and love outdoor sports (see below) and being on the water whenever possible!
As to our new business: BacklinePro, I'd say the above sums up our efforts fairly well... Suffice to say, life's been good all these years: I am blessed to continue being a musician/doing what I love & I'm excited to now have this new avenue of music performance to embark upon.
