Born in Long Island New York, Tom started
playing guitar at the age of 10 after hearing Elvis,
Buddy Holly and the Beatles and played in rock bands
throughout in teen years. After leaving high school,
Tom discovered jazz and moved to Tampa to attend
the University of South Florida's jazz program.
Upon graduation he became the guitarist and musical
director for top jazz singer Belinda Womack and was
voted Tampa Bay's Best Jazz Band in 1994. Tom performed concerts with legendary cornetist Nat Adderly, trumpeter Red Rodney, singer Lena Prima and opened shows for
numerous national acts including Branford Marsalis,
Yellowjackets, Spyro Gyra, Herbie Mann, Oleta
Adams, Brian Culbertson and many others.
Currently, Tom leads his own Jazz/Funk group - TOM JEMMOTT BAND and composes music for various film projects, advertising spots and video games. He's also a member of the modern jazz trio - THICK AS THIEVES and continues a busy
performance schedule as a freelance guitarist as well as teaching privately at
Don Banks Music in South Tampa.
Tom's musical inspiration comes from a variety of
players and styles. From the jazz sounds of Wes
Montgomery, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny and John Scofield
to the rock sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Keith Urban and
the Beatles, Tom approaches his music with fire and
passion.
Thanks for the ad Tom. Nice to be in touch with a other fellow Tampa guitarist. Ill keep you in mind for gig/playing and networking gigs. Have a great weekend. PB www.soundclick.com/troubleinparadise
Tenn sounds like a lot of fun!!! How long were you there? Things are going well, keeping me busy & that's always a good thing! Miss you SO MUCH!!! I love stopping by your page to hear your music!!!
Hey Tom & friends thereof; Check the original tune "Journey To Freedom" On My Jukebox. It is a Cuban Songo/Funk-Fusion Thang. This is in pre-production with all computer instruments programmed by me with my live guitar track. More details are in the blog. There will be a full version forthcoming with some real humans playing the instruments. Just a preview/note-sketch for now.
HI TOM! Thanks so much for the friendship! I look forward to seeing and hearing you perform! Please stop by my personal "My Space" and check it out! I have a new blog message to all the Tampa Bay area musicians out there! Also, please check out my current band "OOH-LA-LA". We are the first friend listed on my personal "My Space" (below)!
I have been trying to choose my favorite song that you have posted, but they are all just so darn good that I am not sure! I think I'm partial to Billie's Bounce...but then I like Heard a Rumour...
Hey there! Only 3 more gigs to go with you in the Bob band. You need to really ROCK OUT on the solos! Kick a leg up or do the Kiss Gene Simmons tongue!!!!
Hi Tom! Great music and playing! Thanks for being my friend. I was trying to find which club The Players play at, but couldn't find it. I recently moved here, so I am not sure. I know about their live DVD though. Keep up the great work and keep in touch. Best Wishes, Daniel
