People who write, sing, and/or create art from their own lives like Jorge Amado, Stan Hugill (in more than one way), Pablo Neruda, Stan Rogers, Steeleye Span, and Opetaia Foa’i of the group Te Vaka, Alanis Morisette, Tom Waits, Dylan, Rod Stewart (Every Picture Tells a Story period), Dan Keding, John D. McDonald, Matt Goacher, Madysen Pillars (and Mom), Andre Villoch, Jim Pfitzer, various and sundry romantics, singers, blacksmiths, artists, writers, sailors, and travelers; and "the Girl".
Just back from record audiences at the Chicago Maritime Festival and an incredible time at the Folk Alliance conference in Memphis where I had good singer/songwriter response as well as having the honor of being part of Andy Cohen's "Folk University" and "Tradstock" with Tracy Schwartz & Ginny Hawker, Enoch Kent, Chico Schwall, and the Ebony Hillbillies. Upcoming travels include tall ship captaining in Chicago, a tour West, and a Canadian stop or two in 2010.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
hey tom! seeing you play the other night was great, you probably dont remeber me but i talked to you after you played at the church. i like your music.
♫ It is a great day to be alive! Thanks for including me! What question can I ask now to empower myself and others? What new thought can I notice now to add to my creativity? How can I improve our experience right now? What can I do to facilitate your Gift? Blessings, Rich Baumann ♫ folksinger ♫ songwriter ♫ storyteller ♫ educator♫ www.richbaumann.com

Hey! not really, I miss the seasons changing. I didn't think I'd miss snow but I would kill for a snowstorm right about now. Not sure what to do, can't find work, running out of money, not sure if I want to go home or keep trying out here. If I leave, the boyfriend won't be following. Kinda wish we hadn't left home, to be honest. How's your trip going?
Hi Tom thanks for your company at Workum. Good to see you are busy. Thanks for the CD. To anyone who hasn't got a copy yet it's a must have item!!! Glad to see you smiling. Fair Winds Trim and Doxy
