Tom Lewer is a 19 year old blues and boogie woogie pianist from Dorset, UK. Tom draws his influences from many different areas of the blues idiom and his playing includes hints of, among others, Montana Taylor, Meade Lux Lewis, Albert Ammons, Jimmy Yancey and Big Maceo Merriweather. Tom is currently hard at work on his first album which will be released this September. -

Bio:
I am an eighteen year old boogie woogie and blues pianist from Dorset, UK.
I began learning classical piano aged eight. However I soon became more interested in improvisation and jazz, and in 2005 I attended the first UK Boogie Woogie Festival. There I discovered boogie woogie and blues and began to learn to play this style of music myself. It wasn’t long before I started playing gigs at local venues.
In 2007 I began playing regularly at monthly meetings of the UK Boogie Woogie Club and also at local gigs with boogie woogie pianist Julian Phillips and his band ‘The Stuff’. In 2008 I attended the La Roquebrou Boogie Woogie Festival in France, where I met and was lucky enough to play with great musicians including JP Amoroux and boogie woogie legend Bob Seeley. In 2009 I played officially at the UK Boogie Woogie Festival, then in its fifth year.
Some other well known blues and boogie woogie musicians I have played with include Tim Richards, Patrick Smet, Eeco Rijken Rapp, Renaud Patigny, Big John Carter, Martijn Schok, Greta Holtrop and Jelly Germaine. I have recently taken my A Levels and am planning to record a CD soon.
