About me:
I am Thomas Gilbert Brown, Jr. I was born on March 30, 1963 in El Paso, Texas, and have lived there all my life. My parents are--as you can guess--Thomas Brown, Sr and Billie Hershenberg. They divorced when I was only a year, so my grandparents took my sister, Cathy and me into their home. My grandmother was like a mother to me.
I went to Ramona School for nine years. Hey, I did not flunk, it was a school for grades K-8. Then I went to Riverside High School for 2 years, and because it was difficult being white in an all Hispanic School, my sister and I transferred to Eastwood High. There I graduated in 1981 in the largest class ever.
After graduating from Eastwood, I met my future wife, Sonia Blanco. Yeah, "Blanco" is Spanish for "White". So sometimes she says she just changed colors. As a senior in High School I heard the Lord tell me to reach my city for Christ. So after getting married to Sonia, we started Word of Life Church on April 1, 1984. We played an "April Fools" joke on the devil.
After 3 years, our church moved from the Ascarate School, where we began, to a rented building on North Loop Drive. After seven more years, we built our own church building on 11675 Pratt Ave. Ten years later we expanded our building to include a huge indoor playground and coffee shop.
During these years in the ministry, I have been part of television documentaries on exorcism and hell. You might have seen me on MSNBC, The History Channel and ABC's 20/20. At any rate, although people look to me for deliverance, I always try to point them to Christ.
Among the documentaries, I have written six books, and the most recent one is the one I am most excited about called, Devil, Demons and Spiritual Warfare. It was a best-seller on Whitaker House titles. It's available in bookstores everywhere. The book is now available in Spanish.
