Just about anything I've heard (and liked!) -- but probably the most profound were my 4 years as a Navy musician (lead alto/soprano sax and flute soloist) and my studies at music school (Shenandoah '78)
Sounds Like
Friends have said my music sounds a little like Michael Card, John Michael Talbot, Simon and Garfunkel, Kemper Crabb and Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead (quite a combination!) (: with the vocals and guitar improvisations. And yes, I AM grateful to be dead... in Christ!!! Recently, some have told me I bring Phil Keaggy to mind. This is a difficult one, because he is one of my all-time guitar heroes. I better keep practicing!!!
Hello, thanks for visiting. In a nutshell: Here you'll find the fruit of my musical existence. I like to create songs for God, and that's what this page is all about. I have training in music, as you can see in the box to the left, but it is in jazz and classical. I also love folk guitar finger-pick/strumming, and classical finger-style guitar. The dilemma for me as a song writer is to let all those elements converge into a style that is uniquely my own or try to follow popular trends of the day. Don't think I haven't tried that... but when I do, the well-spring of new song ideas just dries up. You can hear some of the jazz/blues/classical influence, but haven't gotten around to adding sax or flute yet. Some friends say they love my 'raw' song format (meaning not a lot of studio production - like additional instruments and orchestration, but mastered to the highest audio quality possible). My goal has been 1-take guitar and vocals, kind of like I'm sitting there playing my guitar and singing for you right in your living room. Yes, a glass of tea would be fine, light on the sugar, please! (: Also, I've found in the more than a year I've had music out here on the web and in giving my CD's away to friends and family is that about 1 in 4 like my style well enough to ask for more. Not sure how that stacks up with music trends in general, all I know is I love to create songs... A valid criticism I've heard is that my style could use more rhythmic diversity, and I agree. Will try in future attempts. I've been talking with a drummer, so when I perform these live (some day!) I expect some great rhythm to be added, and I can continue doing my thing. Make sense? Let me know what you think... I welcome good, honest feedback. Most important is to know that the gift the Lord has given is ministering -- would love to hear from you if that is the case. I may want to post some on the Blog here -- if so, I'll ask your permission first. Am continuing my quest to write captivating original Christian folk songs. The latest is "Out Of The Depths" which is an old renaissance guitar piece (circa 1500's) I learned in college, which I put sections of Psalms and Proverbs to. More to come.

EVERLASTING FLOWERS Luke 8, versus 11 - 15 In the garden of your life, you choose the path you take, Jesus Christ, your Saviour's hand holds the weeding rake. Just let Him lead you daily along His lighted path, Steadily along life's ways, He'll guide you with His staff. If you choose the HARD path, you're not in the garden at all, Please open your ears and heart to the Saviour's call. Don't take the STONY ground, Jesus never promised us a life of ease. He knows its never easy not to do just as you please. Your bound to hit some THORNY patches as your garden starts to grow, Just confess your failures to Him, His love He wants you to know. Then from the GOOD soil, you will be, all fertilized with Himself, You will be a prize bloom shining, not some seeds left on the shelf. For when you bloom and grow, with God's rising sap of love, The seeds of life will scatter with a never-ending source of love.
Rest for the Weary I am writing this in March of 2009 while the world is in a serious economic upheaval. Fortunes have been lost, retirement incomes are gone, and the basic necessities have become a struggle for many.
It is at times like these that I recall the simplicity of childhood and the safety of my mom and dad’s arms.
In truth, we assign too much importance to issues that, in the end, will be of no consequence. Have you ever heard of a man on his deathbed who asked to see his stock portfolio one more time? Could the time we spend worrying be better spent in quiet, soothing fellowship with the One who created it all and promises more?
Jesus said that we are not to worry, but to “seek His Kingdom first” and His Father would generously take care of our needs. And, He invited “all who are burdened and weary” to come and find sweet rest in Him.
God bless you and keep you under His magnificent wings-protection and love abounds!
Have a beautiful week and weekend!
Warm hugs and love,
Anna (helloooooooo from Eric as well!)

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Romans 10:14
