    'At One' Tom Portman's new acoustic album is available through CD Baby. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/tomportman2 Also see the new web site http://tomportmanmusic.com Tom Portman is a talented multi Instrumentalist, Performer, Composer, Songwriter and Music tutor based in the West of Ireland. He specializes in the Acoustic & Electric Guitar and is a pretty Hot Dobro & Lap Steel player (slide guitar instrument played on the lap with a steel bar). The music usually associated with the Dobro is Blues, Bluegrass and Hawaiian music. Tom however also plays in many styles including Irish traditional, Rock then all the way to Indian music. His compositions likewise draw on many world influences. Tom particularly likes the ethereal beautiful spacious sounds that the Dobro produces. As well as being a singer Tom can play many instruments such as Mandolin, Banjo and Fiddle. Currently Tom is working on a new solo album of his compositions for Acoustic Guitar and Dobro; another album Tom is concentrating on is an Indian Classical fusion album with the Bahh Band www.myspace.com/bahhband that blends Indian Classical music, the Blues and Tom's compositions. This group features Sarod (21 string Indian fretless lute, Dobro, Tabla, Bodhran, Double/Fretless Bass, and Siren vocals. These albums are both due to be released in 2010. 'The Journey' released in 2007 was his last solo album and previous to this Tom released an EP titled 'I have found in' 2003. This year Tom's playing will also feature on the gifted pianist Maja Elliot's composition that will be released on Seanua album during the summer of 2010. Other projects Tom has been concentrating on for this year is work with a Blues Ensemble, and Kinvara's famous Rock band 'Charis' which reformed in 2009 after a 2-year beak. See www.charisireland.com . In previous years Tom has been concentrating also on a Bluegrass/Americana repertoire with Gone to Grass, Kiss my Bluegrass and Vince Cross. Performance wise Tom has played around Ireland from small pubs to big festivals such as the Electric Picnic, The Sea Sessions and the DLR Festival of world cultures. Internationally he's played in the Uk at the Goethe Institute festival in London, and at various venues in North Italy and Southern France. Tom does both live and studio session work, his playing features on the Internationally released TV cartoon series and feature film 'The Ugly Duckling and Me'. His playing also features on Roesy's album 'Colour Me Colourful' and Peader Kings album 'Beneath the Branches. He recently finished recording in the studio for Nicole Blue's studio album. Tom has also been teaching for the last 7 years privately and through the GTI School of music for the last 3 years. He has studied Music at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and Dartington College of Arts, he has also studied Sound engineering in Galway. '. Fascinating…he absolutely captivated me.'
