Tom Sykes was born at a very young age in Portsmouth, England in 1979. He grew up in southern France, Norwich and Portsmouth before attending the University of East Anglia. He was the co-compiler/editor of 'No Such Thing As A Free Ride?' a book of hitch-hiking stories published by Cassell Illustrated. The book was serialized in The London Times and named Observer Travel Book of the Month.
Tom's short stories have appeared in Lighthouse, Nocturne, Lunar Harvest, Jupiter SF, Spoiled Ink and Writer’s Muse. His 'Ringroad to Immolation' was named as one of 'the top online stories of 2004' by storySouth.com. His story 'Super Fly-Tipper' was featured in the international anthology 'Small Voices, Big Confessions' (Edit Red, 2006). He writes a regular column for Quill magazine in Malaysia and lectured at the THE INDIAN OCEAN WORLDS ACADEMIC CONFERENCE, UNIVERSITY MALAYA, KUALA LUMPUR ON AUGUST 11TH 2007
