About me:
If you are on AIM say hey sometime my AOL name is - Nikon Samurai
Typical summer day for 2008 (as of Aug.) = wake up around noon, return around 30 emails then 5 or so phone calls. Pack up the car for the afternoon shoot then head to the beach for a few hours of fishing and/or surfing before shooting a family on the beach at sunset. Most sessions are in topsail or ocean isle with a few local sessions mixed in. After the session we head home for emails and phone call returns followed by image editing, dinner, a movie if time allows and sleep. Every day is a different family if not two. I've also been booking sunrise when sunset is already full and my 2 hired guns are booked. Sunset and sunrise sessions in the same day will brake you down and show you what you're made of. This summer has been amazing with calls coming in non stop. Tonight we're taking a quick trip to charlotte for a Tool show. This will be my first one, excited i am. My big reef tank is still looking sad with Cyano taking over. I think my last maintenance and cleaning with a few new powerheads will solve the water chemistry issues causing the bacteria growth. All inverts and fish are fine, the corals were moved to my little 30 gallon and are beginning to fight each other by chemical release. In a small tank over stocked 30 gallon as a backup/storage fighting is not a good thing.
Spring 2009: I'm lovin my new hobby!! The best part about this hobby is it's tax deductible. My buddy Kris gave me a 30 gallon reef tank. I have an OCD personality for those of you who don't know me. Once i start something it's my mission in life to do it well or it drives me crazy. 4 months went by. I learned what to do right mostly by doing everything wrong and having to fix it. Now i have a very solid understanding of Aquariscaping with coral and how to run a clean self maintained system. SO, i made a jump to a 135 gallon reef tank with all the bells and whistles. It's a little more noisy than i expected but i'm working on that. I'll post photos in my profile so you can see pieces of my reef garden. Emily also helped me finish my backyard. I built an arbor to keep my wisteria at bay. Then I put a fence up (nice 6 foot staggered picket) and planted the few spots i had left with climbing roses, jasmine, wild flowers and about 20 other types of ornamental flowers. The bamboo is expected to hit 8 to 12 feet this year so i'm excited to see that. I have 20 grape vines growing strong and my vegi box has about 1000 seedlings coming up. I acquired 2 bearded dragons (not by choice) that now have laid eggs. Tonight i shaved Reesy (my dog) for the first time. I never realized she had such a big head until i took all the fur off :) ROOO ROOOO ROOO!
winter 2008/09: This episode of Tom's life will discuss how fast thing seem to change from day to day. Business is good, Reesy my dog is very happy, I did something recently I never thought I would do. I sold my boat. Business has been so good I sold it for a little less then i baught it for because I never get time to take it out and when I leave it in storage I end up having to fix a list of stuff before I can use it. Last year I would have said fishing was my only relaxation escape. I haven't been fishing in 8 months, the surprising part is I don't really want to. Reesy continues to find new bones to chew (I put them in places so she can find them) and I am doing new things every chance I get. Last summer I was into landscaping my yard, over the winter I was a movie fanatic, in the spring I tried to learn everything I could about horse photography, and lately I’ve been learning how to do dances like shag, waltz, salsa, bachatta, swing .. I don't even remember all that I’ve learned. It's been fun. I'm excited to see what new adventures will pop up around the corner. The past few weeks have been doing non stop computer work editing jobs and working on my website(s) and doing afternoon portrait sessions on the beach just about every day. One seems to lead to the other which is good in the respect that i understand the cycle and hope to be able to continue at my current pace.
I've been told it's a flaw to worry. I believe being worried shows you care ... if you never worry then you don't care about anything ... Wright that down!
When I turned 27 I decided to change a few things in my life. To better illustrate why, why and how I have linked to a video with scientific information

Being an Aquarius:
You're ready for fun today, even if there's still quite a bit of work to do. Unfortunately, you cannot make the weekend arrive any sooner than it will. But this doesn't mean that you need to wait to enjoy yourself. Instead of thinking that something else will bring you more pleasure, focus on your current activity with a renewed sense of acceptance. Being present in the here and now is a conscious choice towards happiness.
