  • Bio

Tom Schreck is quickly emerging as one of Nashville’s brightest young talents. A skilled singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer/arranger and producer, his music spans styles and bridges eras with his unique artistic vision and keen melodic ear. His voice is one of a kind, and his music is nearly impossible to define by genre. Originally hailing from Bismarck, North Dakota, Tom was singing before he could talk, and he began writing songs and playing in bands as a teen. He attended the University of Notre Dame, where he was a fixture on the open mic scene and in choral groups, all the while refining his songwriting and production skills in his home studio. Moving to Nashville in 2007, Tom quickly made the rounds of the city’s famous writers’ nights and open mics, making friends and honing his craft along the way. After founding the label, brand, and production company Nashville Outsider Music in 2008, he got to work on his official debut album Outsider, which saw completion in late 2009. The album, which was produced by Schreck, is quickly garnering acclaim among the who’s-who of Music City. His song “Still Want to Be with You,” a co-composition with close friend and collaborator TJ Hitt, was featured on Lighting 100’s (Nashville WRLT 100.1 FM) “Local Lightning Spotlight” in November 2009. A highly sought after collaborator, Tom has been featured on albums by artists including TJ Hitt, Ben Owens and Jess Langer. Tom looks forward to creating new music, furthering the Nashville Outsider brand and recruiting new like-minded "outsiders" to keep the music flowing! .. .. In late 2008, Tom decided to start taking this stuff seriously and jumped through the appropriate hoops to start his own record label, Nashville Outsider Music. Tom's debut release ..Outsider.. is out now, and releases from TJ Hitt and Ben Owens will follow soon. .. .. .. ..Outsider.. is out. All the players, engineers, & artwork people did a fantastic job. .. .. .. ..Here is a video of Tom with his wonderful string section Eva Walsh and Emily Nelson playing "Still Want to Be with You" (Hitt/Schreck) at the Bluebird Cafe, April 26, 2009. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..And some old stuff. Here is a video of Tom performing his song "Ounce of Sorrow" on the Mike Peterson show on Notre Dame Television, February 2005. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Tom is "better looking than Matt Damon," according to his mom.

Man, this is a dumb category. There are audio samples on this same page. Why do I need to write what I sound like? Ugh.
