Early 90's, glimpses of the 80's, abandoned buildings, train tracks, finding stuff in the garbage, old books that I find in the garbage which look cool but I never end up reading, walking around by myself, taking the train at night by myself, trying to always have a hundred dollars to my name (when I was a kid I thought having $100 would mean that I was rich), and Club Man aftershave...

Tone Tank is the the man behind Scumlife, one half of Brooklyn rap duo Iller Than Theirs, as well as one seventh of rap collective Nuclear Family. Tone has put out two solo Ep’s this past year in addition to his works with Iller Than Theirs.
’The Black Six Sessions’ EP, being his first solo project was made up of Tone’s ‘destroy-everything-in-the-room’ gritty vocal style over old school hardcore, punk-rock breaks and samples from Doc Strange, Scott Thorough and J.Howells Werthman. Tone’s live performances of his ’The Black Six Sessions’ have been known to involve self-destruction and some degree of nudity.
Soon after the release of the ‘The Black Six Sessions’, in the Summer of 2008 Tone started showing signs of mental fatigue and became increasingly reclusive. He disappeared off the scene, holing himself up in an undisclosed location with nothing but old Surf Guitar 45’s, dusty recording equipment and a typewriter. A few months later he reemerged with his second solo project ’The King of Surf Guitar Rap’ EP.
Tone has now regained a good amount of his mental and physical health and is back in the studio with Scott Thorough and J. Howells Werthman and is said to be creating some ‘things’ that will “sound nothing like the last ‘thing’ he did”.
