Paraibano movido pela inquietação artística, Toninho Borbo entra no seu sexto ano de estrada
apontando a liberdade de criação e tencionado limites estéticos através da fusão entre a tradição
folclórica e o universo multicultural da música contemporânea mundial. Para realizar essa nova
linguagem sonora, chamada EXPERIMENTAL SAMBA GROOVE, o artista se uniu a dois seridoenses do RN,
Lourdes Ramalho e Frequência Zero (fHz0), numa parceria moderna e nordestina.
Toninho formulou este novo som com o mesmo rigor poético engajado do seu primeiro trabalho
intitulado Do Beco ao Eco (2003). O EXPERIMENTAL SAMBA GROOVE tem características do seu último álbum, Para Fins de
Mercado (2007), mas flertando com o dub, ragga, samba, rock, musica eletrônica e ritmos regionais
como o coco e a embolada misturados numa só pegada.
O som está antenado com um cenário cultural que possibilita notar as colagens dos bits do não
menos inquieto FHZ0. Produto de expressão da música eletrônica paraibana, fHz0 é o arquiteto que
tira, com um golpe veloz, os bits que formam o desenho detalhado de colagens, samples e texturas.
Essa união causa uma atmosfera densa de impressões sonoras que nos arrebata paulatinamente.
Nesta junção entre os dois mundos sonoros, Toninho Borbo fundiu a riqueza dos aspectos da tradição
com a universalidade sonora da música urbana eletrônica. Desta forma, ele traz a tona os aspectos
místicos e fantásticos da cultura popular, confrontando-os com a realidade concreta e instrumental
de uma sociedade alicerçada na conversão veloz dos seus significados simbólicos.
Assim foi a fusão da letra poética da dramaturga e escritora Lourdes Ramalho com o coco-drumbass
dos dois músicos. Lourdes cedeu parte da peça teatral A Feira pra Toninho musicá-la. Mas a música
atual de Toninho é isso, a arte que se coloca no vértice agudo da manifestação mais presente de
contemporaneidade. Tudo apontando o que seria mais um gesto estampado numa estética atual.
Trajetória - Toninho já tocou em alguns eventos nacionais, como a participação na Teia – Encontro
de Pontos de Cultura, em São Paulo-SP. Ainda como aluno do curso de ciências sociais em 2005, ele
produziu e gravou um EP com 5 músicas onde a faixa 3, vira HIT Polifônico após vencer um prêmio
nacional promovido por uma habilitadora de celular. É a partir deste momento que este artista
crava seu nome na vanguarda da música independente paraibana.

Paraibano motivated by artistic concerns, Toninho Borbo enters its sixth year of the road pointing the freedom of creation and intended to limit aesthetic through the merger between folk tradition and multicultural world of contemporary music world. To achieve this new language sound, called EXPERIMENTAL SAMBA GROOVE, the artist joined the two of Seridó RN, Lourdes Ramalho and Zero Frequency (fHz0), a modern partnership and Northeast.
Toninho made this new sound with the same rigor involved in his first poetic work entitled Do Beco ao Eco (2003).
