Toni's Interests
|
| General | Reading, writing, most things that don't require a lot of movement since I'm a semi-semi-invalid (car crash, don't get me started on that!), painting--oh, yes, putting my latest work aside to tend to the grandchildren! I a;sp like the Tomb Raider games. Am now looking for a PC version of Tomb Raider: Legend and the anniversary edition. | | Music | Classical: the really dramatic stuff like Beethoven's Symphony #7, I usually play the Allegretto when I'm writing, it's got such a dirgey, dramatic beat it seems to invite lightning flashes and dark figures in the moonlight. Also like Salieri (and no, he didn't kill Mozart, in fact, some of his work is better than ol' Amadeus'!)
Song I hear most often at work: Who were You Thinking of When we were Making Love Last Night? by the Texas Tornados.
L | | Movies | Old horror classics: Nosferatu (the 20's version), Dracula (nearly laughable now, but good to show how it all started), in fact, any Dracula movie (Christopher Lee, Frank Langella, et al), Interview with the Vampire (especially Antonio Banderas' role). Epic and Fantasy: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, All the Star Treks. (I was an original Trekker, in the Save Star Trek letter-writing campaign, even got a return letter in answer.) I'm a real horror movie fan and it takes a lot to make me not see one through to the end. I usually manage to find some redeming quality in anything but there have been a few-- Last movie I gave that honor to was some zombie flick whose title I don't even remember.
Last movie seen: Eragon. Movie I want to see: Ghost Rider. | | Television | Heroes; Smallville; Blade; Buffy and Angel when they were on; the new and the old Dr. Who; Numbers, Monk, Psych, and the Dresden Files (I have a few arguments with this one but on the whole, it's passable). | | Books | Classic horror: Bram's Stoker's Dracula. Anything about JR Ward's tales of the Black Dagger Brotherhood; JD Robb's Eve Dallas novels, Jeffery Deaver's Lincolm Rhyme series, and the Dresden Files. I even wrote the Sci-Fi Channel asking if they'd think about having it as a series. Just finished Hannibal Rising, waiting to see the movie now, and compare. I'm sure it'll bemore sensation and less cerebral. DO comics count here? Just got the first four of the Anita Blake series and Marvel's 1602.
Books just finished: (I usually read two or three at a time): Kushiel's Dart and Murder Over Easy (about the murder of Humpty Dumpty). | | Heroes | Super or real? Christopher Reeve comes to mind, showing how it doesn't matter how rich or famous you are, you can be brought low in an instant, and also how nobly someone can rise above such a tragedy. |

About me:
The first thing anyone will ask is why is someone my age writing on MySpace. My answer: Why not? The real reason: I'm trying to get in touch with the reading public and my grandson (bless his little video game-lovin' heart!) suggested MySpace. So here I am and here's the backgrond info: 54-year-old grandma, ex-patriate (ex-patriatess?) from Georgia. Ignore the last name, I come from French antecedents. Lived and fought Southern prejudice in the barren straits of Nebraska for 30 years until I escaped one dark, snow-laden night. Now basking in sunny Cal. Former dancer. To my family's embarrassment, I now write science fiction and horror novels, specifically about vampires and such. Have 4 published novels, 3 audio books, and a group of sci-fi/horror short stories available for Amazon Shorts. However, agents shun me. So far, I've been turned down by 8 of the species, so I represent myself. Not doing too shabbily, by the way. Also, for the curious, have a website: www.tonivsweeney.com. Because I still like to eat once in a while, I also have a day job in San Juan Capistrano near the old Mission where the swallows return every year, though they're getting fewer and fewer because of the tourists. Ironic: the tourists come to see them and the swallows see the tourists and stay away! SJC is a beautiful place, evoking images of Zorro swashbuckling with the Cmmandante's soldiers.

Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone who wants to talk about my books, of course. If you've bought and read one--THANK YOU!!!! Also people interested i the latest horror books or movies (tear 'em down, build 'em up). As I say elsewhere, I'm such a die-hard fan, I'll generally watch a movie to the end, no matter how bad it is. I can think of only 4 movies I actually didn't see all of, and they were so bad, I don't even remember their titles. I've blotted them from my mind because of the trauma involved!
