Influences
In no real order: Nada Surf, Goo Goo Dolls, Semisonic, Queen, Postal Service, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Fiona Apple, Ani DiFranco, Simon & Garfunkel, Regina Spektor, Feist, Pauline en la Playa. Combination of folk rock and classic rock with a smattering of indie, basically. I also have a weakness for 80s pop.
Sounds Like
As they say in spanish, "me estoy dejando llevar..." or rather, "I'm going with the flow." In other words, I have no idea.
Not really a band at the moment...but maybe some day?
A bit about myself: My name is Jess. I am 23 years old, Vietnamese-American, from the "D.C. area," more specifically the Maryland side. I've been playing guitar since 12 years old and piano since 7, though I've definitely slacked on piano. I sang in my high school choir and for my band. I've done songwriting here and there since I was 16.
A friendly disclaimer: I hardly consider myself a "musician" just yet. I'm doing this as a hobby, so please forgive me if my stuff isn't as refined as I'd like it to be. I don't have much manpower at the moment... don't even really have a decent way to record on my own, but I'm working on it!
So much to say in so little space...I have a lot of thoughts and am just trying to organize them and put them wittily into music to entertain and hopefully to offer a little insight.
So there you have it. Me in a nutshell. I also am a huge fan of "The Office," so you'll always win points with me if you can start by telling me the 3 traits Dwight uses to describe himself at one of his job interviews. It's season 3, somewhere in the middle.
