Tony Cliff BMus (Hons), MPhil, ALCM, FLCM, Cert.Ed graduated from Royal Holloway College, University of London and his early career combined teaching, lecturing and professional performing. For many years Tony was Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Salford, specialising in jazz composition, arranging, history, and analysis and performance techniques and it was during his career at Salford that Tony’s music began to be published. Tony's work is currently published by Faber Music, Stainer and Bell, Studio Music and Kirklees Music and ranges from works for solo instrument and piano to choral music and works for brass band, wind band and jazz orchestra. Many of Tony’s compositions have also been recorded on CD and have been regularly broadcast. More recently Tony has established his own music publishing company Tony Cliff Music where various new works may be purchased on-line directly from his main web-site. Tony is a member of the SPNM, PRS and MCPS and also the Musicians’ Union and Incorporated Society of Musicians. In addition to his compositional work he has written numerous articles and reviews for newspapers, magazines and journals and writes regularly for Music Teacher magazine and Classroom Music.
In 1998 Tony moved down to Falmouth in Cornwall working as a freelance composer and performer whilst also enjoying the beautiful environment and wonderful Cornish coastline.
