One of the most sample musicians of all time! In 1984,Tony’s New York Production,” On the Floor – Rock It”, was released and marked into the US/UK charts. It is referred to as the Grand Daddy of all House Records. From 1976 to 1993 Tony finally ended his participation in the James Brown organization in order to fully concentrate on his production company, and his newly formed band . In 2005 Tony was asked to rejoin the James Brown organization, he remained there with Mr. Brown until his passing in December 25th 2006. Now he is back in the driver seat of his high energy six piece funky band "Tony Cook's Trunk-o-Funk" If you'd like to contact tony Direct please go to: .. www.tonycookmusic.com .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..

.. .. .. .. .. New York Old School Funkstyles Old school video from a documentary of "ALL CITY". Music: Tony Cook & The Party People - On the Floor (Rock It) ... ...... New Review: from Bob Davis Soul-Patrol **Tony Cook's Trunk of Funk - Superstar (Uncut Funk) I listen to a whole lotta music during the course of a typical month. I listen to Soul, Jazz, Doo Wop, Blues, Rock n' Roll and more. And I really do like all of it. That's because I am a music lover and I am in love with the art form itself, even when the art fails to live up to the promise of the art form. However there is one thing that I will always come back full circle to. You see I am of the species known as funk-a-teer and therefore I must always return to my most primal desires. You see for myself and those who are my brethren there is no substitute for THE REAL THANG. Now that doesn't mean that I am unable to listen to other kinds of music and not appreciate it for what it is. I just know what segment of the population I belong to and I don't think that I have ever kept that a secret. However like any other "junkie" I must have what I must have and as soon as I put Tony Cook's Trunk of Funk - "Superstar" into the box and the first note played, I breathed a big sigh of relief, smiled and jacked the volume up to about 8 on the box. For me funk music is almost on a par with having sex with some woman that your not supposed to. It's nasty, sloppy, sweaty, and loud. Once you find it, you are compelled to take it to excess, even when you know that it might be physically or emotionally unhealthy for you. It doesn't matter what danger might be the end result because the pleasure is just so good that it is worth almost any price that you might have to pay in order to achieve such a level of satisfaction. While it's happening, it seems like it will never end and although you know that at some point in time that it is going to end, you don't think about that. Because when you are a funk-a-teer you have a hedonistic view about your music. You welcome the simultaneous destruction and satisfaction. And you also know that such musical heights can only be achieved by those who are the real funkmasters or by someone who has studied it at their feet. And of course Mr. Tony Cook is one such person, having been James Brown's drummer. Therefore the album starts off with Mr. Danny Ray introducing Tony Cook and from that moment, till the album comes to an end you know that any other music simply isn't going to suffice. If you are a person who is like me and calls yourself a funk-a-teer and you have internalized the level of lifetime commitment that is implied by that word, then this album is essential for you to own. All others who only understand what being a funk-a-teer is at a superficial level should stay away. Because just like the best sex and the best drugs you might just end up with a lifetime addiction that you will be unable to explain to other people. ..Brothers In The Groove...... .. .. .. .. ......Add to My Profile.. | ..More Videos.. In 2006 "Bob Davis from Soul-Patrol had this to say in his Newsletter about Tony's Brothers in the Groove CD" **Tony Cook & The GA's - Brothers in the Groove (Stone Cold Funk/Southern Soul) I get literally hundreds of albums submitted for review to me each year and the process is somewhat mundane, since I already know that most of these albums won't be worth reviewing, even before I take off the shrink wrap. However the album "Brothers in the Groove" was different right from the git go. As soon as the first ten seconds of the first song were over I knew exactly what this was supposed to be and as a funkateer it made me smile. "Brothers in the Groove" is a 2006 version of "1969 funk music as it was on AM Black Radio". Or another way to say it is "James Brown meets Betty Wright meets Brand New Heavies".  This smoking album is 57 minutes of non stop pure funk from the Deep South. Do not hesitate to buy it and when you do, put it on at your next fish fry, block party or BBQ, stand back for about 5 minutes and watch the folks start dancing....
