Tony Pulizzi has a musical career that spans an extraordinary amount of versatility and mastery taking Pulizzi from sideman, session player, teacher, engineer, producer and bandleader, to solo performer and composer. Through his presence on the web, Pulizzi's monster chops have drawn attention from all over the US and many parts of Europe and Japan with well over 100,000 views of his videos on You Tube.
Proficient in many musical styles, Pulizzi creates a mash of jazz harmonies and freedoms within the realms of rock roots with his guitar propelled songs. While his songs are both vocal and instrumental, he plans a show that features all the players whether it is a trio sized group or an 8-piece band. You are going to see individuals brought to the top of their game.
Pulizzi has shared the stage with the likes of Allan Holdsworth, Earth Wind & Fire, Blood Sweat & Tears, Mike Stern, Three Dog Night, Huey Lewis, Kelly Richey, Clay Aiken, Kirk Wahlum, Ohio Players, Joey Defrancesco, Beth Hart, Edwin McCain, Vernon Reid, Angela Bofill, Lou Christie, The Coasters, Frank McComb, David Garfield, Gerald Veasley, Eric Marienthal, Kim Waters, Vesta Williams, Bob Mintzer, Chuck Loeb, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Roger Smith and Alex Skolnick just to name a few. Pulizzi's has played on countless other CDs by artists such as pop singer Anne Cochran, and co-wrote the song, "Remembrance (9/11/01)" with James Lloyd of Pieces of a Dream heard on their Heads Up CD release, "Love's Silhouette".
During his collegiate association, he taught guitar at the University of Findlay and currently has jazz compositions published through the Colorado Jazz Press. Pulizzi remains in constant demand as a teacher with fellow musicians taking lessons in guitar, bass, improv and theory. Pulizzi has served as a director for Guitar Studies at Cuyahoga Community College where he also ran the Tri-c Jazz Guitar Ensemble.
A Bowling Green State University cum laude graduate in Jazz and Classical Music Performance and a minor in Recording Technology, Pulizzi maintains a part-time business recording all areas of music in his home studio. Clientele includes Sony BMG and Vater Sticks. He recently co-engineered sessions for members of the OJays and for the programming of Musiq Soul Childs Soul Star tour.
Tony has also participated in musical theater, from performing on stage as the leads in "The Music Man" and "Oklahoma!" in community theater to rocking it out with bands in Cedar Point Live Shows at The Red Garter Saloon. He has most recently been involved playing the orchestra scores with Broadway hits "Spamalot","The Full Monty", "Hairspray", "All Shook Up", "Annie", "The Rat Pack", and "The Lion King". He was commissioned by Disney to program the guitar sounds on both U.S. touring productions of The Lion King. In addition, he's been the vocal coach and arranger for local show bands in the Cleveland area.
To date, Pulizzi has released four self-titled albums - the first, an original jazz-progressive rock project, "Looking Back" with full band, an instrumental guitar trio CD "The Blue Wrinkle", a solo guitar album "Pleasantview Place" and a smooth jazz Christmas album "Your Christmas List". You are going to see Pulizzi take center stage of many a musical frontier, all done exceptionally well and with his very special and personal musical vision!
