Tony Ray Jones, born in Baton Rouge LA, raised in Mobile Alabama, performed in and around the Gulf Coast area many years.
Influenced from the age of 12 on by Country, Folk, Blues & Bluegrass and created a style of his own.
Tony’s vision was to be a singer/musician and pictured himself standing before large crowds making them laugh and singing songs that touched their hearts.
In time his professional career became a reality. In 1978 Tony began playing professionally with bands throughout the south with hopes to be in Nashville TN to futher his career.
In 1990 he moved to Nashville and landed an audition and was hired by Opryland Talent Agency and went on to perform on the General Jackson Showboat and Opryland Hotel for 4 years.
After he recorded his first album “Three Wishes” he ventured on to Road Tours and began to open shows for Willie Nelson, Ed Bruce, Dan Seals and many others.
Later Tony Ray spent 4 years working in the ministry for IGO -International Gospel Outreach, a missionary agency out of Semmes AL. where he helped train & equip those who are called to the mission field. Tony traveled all over the world, Africa, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and local mission trips.
Tony does'nt just consider himself a Country, Gospel or Chrisitan singer he's a Christian that sings country style keeping the standard and lyric content with real life and positive messages.
A passion to minister God's truths combined with 27 plus years in music naturally lead him to bring the gospel to people through his songs and personal testimony. When Tony Ray sings, it's with faith, passion and purpose.
Tony & his wife Patty attend Cornerstone Church in Madison TN/Pastor Maury Davis. They serve faithfully and continue to grow in the Lord.
Tony has focused most of his time these days using his giftings for the Lord. Songwriting, TRAYJ Music Publishing, Ministering in Churches and Recording projects at his Backwoods Recording Studio.
