I'm a guitarist / songwriter from Melbourne, Australia.
I've been married to my long-suffering wonderful wife since 1983 and we have three amazing daughters - all pretty musical and totally unique.
I taught myself to play guitar in the early 70's on my dad's 1936 square-neck Dobro (if you can play that you can play anything!!!). My dad could play piano, accordion, mouth organ, spoons and a bit of guitar. He had a pretty good 'ear' but wasn't any good with theory.
I switched to a Japanese Aria 'Fender Jaguar' copy and a vintage 1965 aussie Goldentone 1753 tube amp. It had a pretty cool sound and I could distort the amp easily by just turning it up.
I've had quite a few guitars over the years and taught music at night to pay for them. Currently, love playing my flame top Les Paul.
After completing an audio-engineering diploma, I co-designed, built and managed a recording studio in the 80's. We had a couple of fun years and even managed to write a musical that actually got staged - must get it revived one day :)
Foolishly trying to complete my collection of Dr Buzzard and Kid Creole records, I created: 'B'Dilli Bay - The Chameleons Kid Creole and The Coconuts' web site (http://sites.google.com/site/tonythechameleon/). This hopefully lists the many hundreds of records, videos and articles relating to the Browder brothers.
Even though I've got a B.A. in History and a Dip Ed in Education, I now work for a very large global IT company (go figure).
I now play a 1974 Fender Strat, 1980 Maton CW80 Acoustic, the same old 1936 Dobro, 1979 Ibanez Roadster bass, Epiphone Casino and Les Paul Standard; and bash keyboards and my daughter's Pearl drums when I can't find a good drum sample.
I'm now trying to make time to write more songs and get up the nerve to record my voice (be afraid!).

Yes. I knew I was in Wikipedia - a friend of mine put that article in! And then someone deleted it because they said I wasn't relevant. So *I* put it back in again saying I was, so there!
So it's no great honour, really, but I admit it is kinda fun to be in an encyclopaedia!
Hi Tony! "By My Side" is my favourite tune of yours yet - really nice work.
I love the the Beatle/Django chords, the guitar tone (the Casino, I presume), the restraint and tension in your playing, and the emotional build-up and release about 3/4 of the way through.
Have fun in the US and bring back a nice new guitar for yourself, eh?
Your space does not have many comments so i thought i'd send you one!
110 friends! CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This computer has no sound, so i can't hear your songs, but i'm sure they are good! :)
