At school I was the kid who played harmonica in the playground to a crowd of onlookers. I bought my first guitar at the age of nineteen in a back street of Southampton where I grew up. I tortured my sister with bum notes until I got the hang of it and then copied various folk guitarists of the time. As soon as I knew three chords I started to write my own songs.
I stuck a pin in a map and ended up in Nottingham. The dramatic change of environment inspired me to write many songs and develop as a songwriter. I got a job in a wine bar. There was me in one corner and a parrot called Henry in another. Henry got more attention than I did. I realised then that all you needed was a good hook line and a quirky take on life. Henry taught me a lot!
As a resident musician at one French restaurant I got fed each night and was given my taxi fare home. I was so hard up at the time I used to save the money and walk.
I went to Stoke on Trent to study Creative Arts and developed as a writer and performer. It was there that I met SIMON PITT and formed REDMAN GREENMAN, a whacky poetry and music duo who toured the alternative comedy circuit and hosted our own venue called the HO BLOODY HO SHOW. If you study FRANK SKINNERS autobiography, theres a picture of one of our old posters featuring us and Frank (who appeared under the name of Chris Collins at the time).
I moved to Birmingham and there I answered an ad for FELT, a band signed to the CREATION LABEL. I met Lawrence who told me that he loved NICK DRAKE and wanted a picker in the band. I ended up playing on a couple of their albums, touring Scotland and appearing on the Andy Kershaw Show, Radio One. MARTIN DUFFY from Felt went on to play with EDWYN COLLINS and PRIMAL SCREAM. When Felt broke up I formed a band with Felt bassist, Marco and we called it THE DAY. The band mutated into Parma Violets and then Paris Love Mat. I love to play and do so at any opportunity, currently as a solo acoustic artist.

well, it has been a long and winding road, and an even longer time coming, but my debut CD, I Remember, is FINALLY HERE!!! YAY!!!!!
to celebrate, American HeartBeat Records(tm) has arranged a FREE DOWNLOAD of Now Is The Time in exchange for a valid email address. Now Is The Time is a brand new, upbeat song I wrote: we are living in turbulent times. suddenly it is okay to be greedy and heartless? no way! a song of hope for our future, a new vision of America and the world.
we have a bunch of exciting things planned to kick this whole thing off, and we need to get a better picture of who our friends are, so the FREE DOWNLOAD form will ask you a few questions, like, what is your country and nearest major city. it all takes maybe 15 seconds.
anyhoo, the FREE DOWNLOAD, and the FUN, begins at www.JAETCHISON.com
I look forward to getting to know you a little better, and I thank you SO VERY MUCH for your friendship and support!
please tell your friends about JAETCHISON.com, and ask them to sign up for the email list, too! FUN things are coming up!!

ThankYOU Toeknee! That's the most comfortable and inspired I've ever been to write with anyone.I used to work really well with Pip but it was fantastic to have another musician to take the chords in such intresting directions whilst working closely with what I had...magical!Made me :) for a day.Been listnin to break away and it really thrives on that bass line so why dont we get Pablo to play on acoustic or double bass-think that'd sound ace!Love Colliex
Was so pleased you played don't wake up at your last gig.It came across really well and there was a magical energy when u played Brand New Year!Everyone was really good that night!Had a really bad gig on weds-left me feeling quite crap but I'm back after a bit of lovin from Steve and a lot of NMRK!I cant wait to work with you Tony-I&'ll be careful about who I say yes to in future!Aw well at least I made a little bit of money out of it:)Take care matex

Dont wake me up is my new fav-the words are beautiful Toeknee!I love the countermelody u've done on the keyboard with the violaesque sound...it's sublime as are ur vocals!Love the little chromatic rise on the guitar halfway through and the build up at the end-truly awesome track-you should do it in ur set.
Gettin better reminds me of that Robin Williamson track "Me and the mad girl".My sister was standing out in the rain-her eyes told me she'd gone insane:)My fav line is "I was climbing the curtains, had to get out.Six cats with ears pricked chasing their tales about"-Williamson would've been pleased with that line, hehe. The timing and the bass are really interesting too....loving it!
