Okay it's time to clean the shit out of your ears and listen up.
There are way too many genres of music out there - and when it comes to metal, the classification of sub genres can become tedious at best, and ultimately only serves to obfuscate the purpose of why one listens to the metal in the first place. So I wont try to pigeon - hole the show by trying to come up with some slick, metal - dork correct explanation of what we play.
Simply put, Too Much Distortion is about the music you won't hear any of your local stations playing, and about all the other rocking music that is produced around the world, either within or independent of formal studio and distribution channels.
A lot of the music we play comes from bands that most people have never heard of. On occasion we play stuff at random from bands that we've never heard of before. So in that regard Too Much Distortion is a way for musicians who defy the commodity driven commercial music industry to access another media outlet for their music - and to do so in the simple terms of music for music's sake. Too much Distortion is also a chance for Boise metal connoisseurs to get a free earful of what's new in metal. And of course we always play a few old standards - as well as some old punk and hardcore - just to ensure that the correct degree of too much distortion is being administered to the general public.
Local bands are invited to send in their stuff for possible airplay. Obviously you might want to check out our show and make sure you think it’s the right place for your stuff. If your music fits the show (if we think it rocks) and doesn't totally suck (it isn't totally obvious that you recorded it on a boom box or that your just a wannabe rock star), we will most likely play it.
Stuff you won't hear on Too much Distortion:
We won't play any of that emo crap that they are playing on MTV these days. Actually, we wont be playing anything that plays on MTV, VH1, or any other mainstream corporate brainwashing service.
We don't confuse "new" metal with real metal. The crap they play on the local commercial radio - canned rebellion for empty minded turdbucklers - the stuff that clear channel uses to sell advertising - you wont hear that on TMD.
Punk was essentially co-opted by mainstream culture and turned into just another meaningless commodity. What passes for "Punk" these days is nothing but a contrived appeal to the empty yearnings of bored suburban mooks. You wont hear that. Because the true spirit of rock n' roll isn't found in those Rap N' Roll rim job bands or any of the other "commercially viable" groups promoted by the Bravo cash machine - whether it's in concert at the big easy OR the taco bell arena. What you won't hear on Too Much Distortion is the pitiful refuse of a spiritually starved culture too selfish to see that it's selling out into the state of being a sad parody of itself. And what you won't hear on Too Much Distortion is the bleating of the mainstream sheep as they cry out for substance in the nightmare of their self-made cultural wasteland. You won't hear that on Too much Distortion, because we won't be able to hear them - simply because we're going to have the music turned up way too fucking loud.
If your not aware that we are in a struggle to keep the corporations from robbing us of everything that gives meaning to our lives, just so they can sell it back to us for their own profit, then you need to wake up and realize what you've got before it's gone.
