Influences
All kinds of music influence us. Here are some bands that greatly influenced our latest album. The Who, Nirvana, Kid With Man Head, Blueprint 76, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Sigur Ros, Brand New, Strung Out, The Clash, The Shins, Ben Kweller, Elliott Smith, David Bowie, Dropkick Murphys, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, The Lemonheads, Buck Owens, and probably a lot of other bands, songs, situations, ideas, movies, and various other things.
Tooth Fuzz is a powerpoprockpunk trio from Elyria, OH (located 26 miles west of Cleveland). The band was established in the fall of 2000 when drummer Rob Schuster joined the band along with bassist Phil Martin and guitarist/lead vocalist Jason Kaminski. The band could be compared to, but not restricted to, the sound of such mainstream acts as Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Nada Surf, and The Ataris. The band strives to fuse many styles and influences of rock, jazz, country, metal, and others that can be distinctly heard throughout their original songs. Tooth Fuzz play shows around the Cleveland area quite often and have picked up a good following. The band held the number one spot on napster for the most downloaded punk songs in the world for 2 straight days in 2001 and are also featured on local radio and internet stations such as wdubradio.com, 88.3 the sting, and clevelandhits.com to name a few. They toured the midwest and Canada in the summer of 2002 along with a few east coast dates with bands like Render One (IN), Dinkus 9 (NY), and Sloppy Meateaters (GA). The band has opened for many national acts in the Cleveland area as well like The Ataris, Stroke 9, Showoff, Punchline, The Fold, The Starting Line, Sloppy Meateaters, Against All Authority, Madcap, The Berlin Project, Dog Fashion Disco, Blueprint 76, and RX Bandits and have played at venues around the area such as Tower City Ampitheater, Hard Rock Cafe, The Agora, The Odeon, The Phantasy, Hi-Fi Club and Peabodys Down Under. They also play shows at Emerson Theater in Indianapolis, American Music Café in Pittsburgh, Flint Local 436 in Flint, and others. They have recorded 2 full length albums at Ringside Studios in Detroit with former Suicide Machines bassist Royce Nunley at the boards including their latest 2007 self-titled release. In 2005 the band played the Cleveland stop of Van's Warped Tour with such acts as My Chemical Romance, The Transplants, Dropkick Murphys, Fall Out Boy, and many others. Tooth Fuzz have polished and worked on their sound over the years to the point where now some of their most mature sounding material is surfacing. Only their best is yet to come. Be sure to check out their latest 12 song self-titled release which includes such hits as "Deception", "Intervention", and "Graveyard Shift".
