With over a decade of experience as a professional entertainer, Topaza is quickly becoming known as one of New York City’s rising stars. Recently relocating from Miami Lakes, Florida to New York, Topaza has already made her presence immediately felt in both the musical and acting communities by sharing stages, venues and events with major label recording artists such as Bette Midler, Teena Marie, Earth, Wind & Fire, Patti Labelle, Take 6, Doug E. Fresh, DJ Dee-Wiz, Nile Rodgers, Pete Merriweather (Petey Pete Entertainment/Drummer), Stan Jones (Songwriter/Pianist), Ron Anthony (Linda Berk’s Notable Entertainment artist), Yolanda Wyns, etc.
Currently, Topaza is featured on the U.K. smash urban single: "All Nite", produced by The Phat Rascals.
As an entrepreneur, Topaza has combined her talents and corporate business skills to retain such corporate clients as Colgate-Palmolive Company, Garden City Hotel, Brian Rosenberg Productions, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rainbow Push/The Wall Street Project, Black Enterprise Unlimited, Hammond Entertainment and Noelle-Elaine Media just to name a few.
Topaza has also personally selected a few of NYC’s most highly sought after musicians to join her as she formed her own band –The Collaboration featuring TOPAZA.
In addition to her solo efforts, Topaza has also formed strong alliances with The UNIONN (Village Underground NYC's most popular house band which includes Elan Lanier, Jasden Murden, Vincent Green & Derek Wright) and STARLIGHT ORCHESTRAS; previously joined SOUL SOLUTION as an alternate lead vocalist/band member and most recently collaborated with them as they performed for the 2005 TONY AWARDS. *(SOUL SOLUTION IS Total Entertainment’s flagship band and world renown for providing entertainment for top celebrity events such as Sir Paul McCartney & Heather Mills’ Wedding, Tommy Mottola -Son’s Bar Mitzvah, NBC’s Today Show, Royal Family of Morocco, etc.).
Topaza’s extensive professional entertainment credits also include recent corporate voice-overs for UNCF’s Annual Awards Dinner, Ann Fudge –CEO, Young & Rubicam, Hank McKinnell –CEO, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and two (2) films: “Passing Glory” –a television feature film starring Andre Braugher, Ruby Dee, Bill Nunn and Rip Torn; “Letters From A Wayward Son” –a motion picture feature film starring Harry Connick, Jr. Topaza also starred in DREAM GIRLS where she was cast for a principal role as Lorrell Robinson (a role originated by Loretta Devine) and was nominated for “Best Supporting Actress” award for the Mid-South Region of Professional Theatre Awards. Topaza has studied at The School for Film & Television, New York City, NY.
Topaza grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and made her professional singing debut in a nightclub on world famous Beale Street at the tender, yet legal age of 18, as did many legendary entertainers such as Elvis Presley, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Carla Thomas, The Staple Singers, Sam & Dave, etc. Topaza almost immediately became a protégé of some of Memphis’ most famous musicians like The Bar-Kays and was one of the area’s premier studio session recording artists. In pursuit of higher achievements in the music industry, Topaza moved to Atlanta, Georgia and auditioned for a female group, TRE’ that was being developed and produced by Gary Jenkins (“Lil’ G”, lead singer of the WEA recording group, SILK) and Sherman Waller (former manager for ARISTA recording artist, MONICA). The group commanded enormous industry buzz and introduced Topaza to many of the industry’s top record producers and songwriters such as Alton “Wokie” Stewart, PHALON (aka Jazzy Phae), Toby Rivers (musical director, AFTER 7), HOP Productions (Keith Sweat), Sinclair Davis, DAVINA, Larry Springfield, Kurt "KC" Clayton (musical director, Bar-Kays, Charlie Wilson, Con Funk Shun, SOS Band and the Tom Joyner’s United We Funk Tour & Three 6 Mafia) and many more. Topaza also had an opportunity to perform as a background vocalist for RCA recording artist, Glenn Jones’ 2000 Tour to promote his latest recording project.
