Thank you all so much for your support in coming to the two benefit concerts and the silent auction and raffle. Literally hundreds of people showed up to these events, making them a huge success.

Again, thank you all for your incredible outpour of support. Tony's family and Sinnamon are so touched by the incredible friends Tony has. It's a testimate to the amazing one of a kind person that he was.
Who I'd like to meet: Tony Carbone is a 34-year old elementary teacher for the Long Beach Unified School District. Two years ago, Tony was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma (the most aggressive and life threatening form of skin cancer), which spread to his brain. Tony is an amazing fighter. He was first diagnosed with melanoma in December of 2005. Since that time his disease has spread to his brain four different times. He has endured six different brain surgeries, whole brain radiation, and chemotherapy. We almost lost him on Christmas night last year, but he pulled through. As a result of recurrent brain tumors, Tony has been left with paralysis in his left leg and loss of vision on his right side. There has been tremendous financial strain on Tony and his wife as a result of his illness. His response to treatment has been successful thus far and his doctors have recommended a drug called Avastin to supplement his intensive treatment. Research indicates that Avastin is very successful in treating melanoma. However, his insurance company, Blue Shield, has denied coverage for the drug, calling it “experimental”. Tony and Sinnamon have appealed this by sending literature about the use of Avastin with melanoma patients and receipts from five other major insurance companies that have covered Avastin for melanoma patients. The School District reviewed the information and concluded that while there is sufficient evidence that this medication can be considered effective for the treatment of melanoma, they do not approve it for this particular case. Now, Tony and his wife have nowhere to turn. Tony’s Avastin cycle, recommended by his doctor, will cost $30K. Tony’s family and friends are organizing a fundraiser to help pay for the cost.

Been thinking about you all week, but especially today. I'm going to look at some old pictures and make sure I call some friends. I'm also definitely going to hug all my loved ones super tight. All in honor of you...miss you Tony.
Been thinking about you these past few weeks dear. Miss you painfully. Can't take your cell phone number out of my phone, isn't that just silliness? I know you are laughing from Heaven at my sentimentality. XO
Hi Tony! You would be laughing at me for leaving a message on here since you and I always joked that I'm soo private. But, I thought you should know that I think of you often and miss you and our friendship. I wish I could tell you about my first trip to Italy this summer ... our official homeland. Viva Italia! I thought of you while I was there and know you were with me in spirit. I talk to you often and hope you can hear me. Well, it's summertime and it's a beautiful day. You would love it! I'm thinkin about going for a bikeride. It brings back fond memories. I thank you for always wanting the best for me and for all your advice. I miss it! Love, Angie Milazzo
You would be horrified by all the gross, "bandaided", mole-skinned feet NYC has to offer in the summer. Aint no pedicure gonna make those feet pretty! Miss you though!
some time has passed since your passing.... in reflecting back on the memorial; it was perfect! it was just nice to be able to cry and laugh with everyone else.
hey Ms. Carbone, i am so terribly sorry for your loss. i hope you are doing alright. :) we've missed you a lot in class and we're glad you're coming back, although we wish it wasn't under these circumstances. ♥
Hands down one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. Ever time I ever got to hang out with him he radiated pure joy. My thoughts are with all of his family and close friends.
My deepest condolences. I just lost my mother in law last night, so I really feel for you guys. I never met Tony, but enjoyed his music with Bikeride very much, and have played it on my community radio show--and will continue to do so.
