Barack Obama: Confronting an Economic Crisis...September 16, 2008
Bay Area, California artist, TOPKAT, transcends the boundaries of hip-hop not only with his rhyme style, but also with exceptional substance in his music. He continues Vallejo, California’s rich tradition of innovation in the genre and, has the ability to present its many flavors, including dance, party, and conscious music. And not to disappoint the purists, TOPKAT paints a rare blend of life’s soulful struggles and triumphs with his lyrics, challenges his audience with political undertones, and packages it all in a timeless hip-hop
sound—destined to be a classic. In an era when some people believe the relevance of the genre has lost touch with the average person on the street, TOPKAT presents the kind ofmusic that first turned people on to the beautiful culture of hip-hop.Unlike many of today’s young emerging artists, TOPKAT is a seasoned performer and haspaid his dues. He has performed at nightclubs, universities, and other public venues acrossthe US and internationally. Through song collaboration and performing live, he has workedwith many notable artists from all ends of the spectrum. His work ethic anddetermination
is undeniable, and his list of achievements is the result of it. Networks Entertainments CEO, Ivan Roque, explains, “TOPKAT has a rare talent of bringing the incomparable energy of his music into his live performance. From crowd participation to rhyming, TOPKAT captivates every venue he graces.” TOPKAT infectiously pleases fans with alluring raw talent, proven through precise delivery, stage presence, and lyrical content. His unreleased work can also be found on mixtapes throughout California, such as “Got Bay? Volume 1,” hosted by E-40. TOPKAT recently won over local listeners, who voted for him as the winner on 106.1 KMEL’s “Battle of the Bay” contest with DJ Backside. For die-hard video gamers, TOPKAT is a hidden play-er with an exclusive song in the 1 rated basketball video game, 2KSports’ NBA 2K7, which is now in stores. As the summer of 2007 approaches, TOPKAT has released his first single and video for “Here to Stay” from his upcoming LP entitled, “Somethin’ in the Music.” It will be available on May 22, 2007, with major distribution by Koch Records. His official MySpace page at
WWW.MYSPACE.COM/TOPKAT offers music downloads, music videos, and many other features. All musical production is done by up-and-coming Vallejo producer 6Fingers of Groundbasics. The blissful marriage of TOPKAT’s articulate delivery, com-bined with a fresh new pioneering sound, will capture the ears and hearts of many fans across the nation, both underground and mainstream. Fittingly described, TOPKAT is a revolutionary for the
people, for the struggle, and ultimately, for hip-hop.

Thanks for the add. ¶ People hear only what they want, so facts alone won't wake them; they'll need inspiration too. An echo of an echo of Buddha or Jesus, encrusted in ritual, loses context & content. Still, we write what we can. Try to hear the deeper questions. ¶ This world's diverse evils have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, & murderers — in market, government, & elsewhere — believe we're all separate, motivated only by greed. They want us to share that belief, for they use it to justify themselves, to keep us apart, to control politics & the economy, perpetuating war, poverty, ecocide. Their power comes not so much from cabals as from ubiquitous propaganda, implicit in their framing of the news. ¶ But they're mistaken about our motives. You & I have found empathy inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, even the tank drivers, if only we can wake them, for we're all one flesh & blood. Let's spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. The bureacracy of brutality cannot stand if we open the eyes of its workers. ¶ What is human nature? Our task is not just to describe what we see, but to choose what we strive to become. The ideological battle between love & fear shapes the world, & its outcome is not yet written. Watching, voting, shopping are not enough. If you haven't already, join the global conversation, in whatever way feels right for you. Merge the revolutions of enlightenment & class struggle. Worldwide understanding has no precedent; we must discover & erase its rules en route. Make love not war is as serious as Orwell & as light as "Chocolat." ¶ For a start, just talk with people — that may not sound like much, but really it's huge. Spread the word. Each of us knows only part of the song, but keep singing, hoping, resisting, questioning. Hand in hand, we may heal this world. — Eric
