About NINA - LIVE @ THE UNDERWORLD 18TH JULY 2009!!!
The foundations of NINA date back to the dynamic Harrow live music scene, in the late 1990s. Playing gigs together in a variety of different bands; Rash, Dave and Jono (old school friends) developed a mutual understanding based on a love of good music and gigging and it was this friendship which was eventually led to the formation of NINA in 2006. With the introduction of Kath ..s, NINA were able to write and jam their own songs. While also developing a sound which was quite unlike any other band on the scene.
Success came thick and fast for NINA in 2006/2007 as they reached the finals of the Emergenza battle of the bands (at the Mean Fiddler), played a series of sell-out gigs at top venues such as West One Four, Camden Underworld, The Fly and self-producing a well received EP; Loop.
A variety of acclaimed performances with established UK bands in 2008 has seen NINA cement their place on the London music scene. At the same time the band have jammed and collaborated to build upon the foundations of the fantastic songs written by Rash, further developing NINA's distinctive sound.
2009 has already started out as one of NINA's most productive and exciting period. A series of new songs with increasingly complex parts led to the need for a second guitarist and so in January Mike was brought into NINA to complete line-up as it is today. So far this year, NINA have headlined gigs at The Good Ship as well as two successful home-town gigs at Trinity bar in Harrow!
Away from the band, Rash has enjoyed individual success composing and singing the vocal chorus on the title track of the new blockbuster British urban film, Shifty , for True Tiger Recordings. In the past Mike has also done studio work with True Tiger and this link serves to highlight the creativity of NINA but also a strong working relationship with one of the UK's brightest indie label.
Friend, Hope all well just to let you know that 5 new tracks taken from the new Matthew Collins full album, 'Grow up Silver Acorn' have been added to my page. The album is complete and will be available from the 1st of May. Thanks for listening and the best of endevours!
Hey hey hey... so it's bit of a delayed response, sorry guys... I've been having a bit of a sabbatical from myspace, losing myself on facebook - but now I'm back! I listened to the new tunes as soon as they were up, and loved them - but I've only just got around to downloading them to steam on my new online radio station! www.pandabeats.blogspot.com (getting own server soon..) - If that's alright with you, that is... Don't get too excited, though! It's not broadcasting 24/7 yet - but check it out and you might be lucky! Full launch to come very soon!
So, yeah, I've also got a new music blog at southdakotashipping.blogspot.com - I'm waiting until it's a bit more popular before I stick a NINA review up - but the real big project I've been working is still in the pipeline... Ooh, it's exciting! And I'll tell you all about it as soon as it's online... In fact, I'll be pimping it harsh!
Loving the tunes, missing you all lots, looking forward to seeing you at Easter...!
Nina...Nina...Nina... Fucking 'ey boys and girl we're playing the Good Ship together good times! You thought you could run but there is no escape from Under_Score!
Ah hah! theyre here, been waiting to here the tracks a while boys and girl, nice production, Rash voice sounds awesome bruv, nice harmonies flying around too (speacially in Last Stop, It time sounds cool, slowing it down a bit seems like a good move. End of the day doesnt get much better than a chorus like that. 'Daves Song' is wicked, really like the vocals (once again), generally great drums sounds, lovin the synth choices too, very Malkmus! No gigs lined up? Hope all well and good, be great to see you guys soon, maybe play a gig together sometime too, Peace etc, Matt
