Born in New York but brought up primarily in Surrey, England; Victoria Allen-Martin has always had a passion for music. 'I live and breathe it... To me, music is everything'.
Twenty-one year-old Tori is currently working towards signing her first major record deal, after turning down that opportunity aged fourteen, because she wanted to get GCSE and A-Level qualifications first; 'It was a lot to gamble but I figured i'd keep trying and one day.. eventually i'd get there. I do wonder where I'd be now if i'd accepted the deal... But I figure if it didn't feel right at the time, then it wasn't meant to be. I'm a firm believer in first instinct'.
Tori focused mainly on television work during her early teens and featured in various childrens television programmes such as Fully Booked, Wise Up, Your Shout and Newsround to name but a few. But music remained her number one passion, and she was involved in musical theatre from the age of eight, roles have included Anita in West Side Story, Carmen in Fame, Dorothy in The Wiz, Beth in Merrily We Roll Along and Nancy in Oliver.
Aside from her work in the musical theatre field Tori also performed regularly with The Voxettes, a four piece girl group who were formed during a charity show commissioned for Kingston Theatre (Don Juan in Kingston) as a fundraiser for the building work. West End Director Phil Wilmott and established vocal coach/songwriter Stephanie Nunn chose the girls from many who auditioned to form a girl backing group to be the main voices of the production.
Tori and the girls (Jesse-Leigh Edgar, Laura Hones and Emily Philipps) continued to work together for two years following 'Don Juan in Kingston' and co-wrote yet another show with their then producer Jinne Stiksma. 'That was an amazing experience and one I hold so close to my heart. The girls and I went through so much and I love them to pieces. It was living the dream really. We were so young but we were having amazing performing experience... and we were able to combine musical theatre with a more modern, poppy sound as well. We all had different influences too which brought a really individual feel to what we were doing. We loved it.. we did silly little local press things and we had photoshoots in clubs... It was a wicked experience... I'm proud to have been a part of it'.
After performing again together at local charity events the girls then began to focus more on their own individual careers, leaving Tori more time to focus on her own music. Working closely with Barry Murray and Mark Taylor Tori began to develop her own sound and this brings us up to now. Currently spending as much time as she can in the studio and watching the completion of her website, which will soon be up, running, and fully functional, and then we go downloadable first release, filming first video (you'll see it here). Her stuff already has Major Company interest (exciting!!). Today Kingston, tomorrow the World!! But, always for you.'
IN ADDITION Tori has now begun working on an E.P. with amazing producer Danny.S. (found in top friends). Expect a different, raw, unique and exciting sound. Watch this space, (www.myspace.com/misstorimusic) .... Tori recently spent time in Liverpool writing and recording with Danny, primarily demo-ing tracks that he has been asked to submit for a possible feature on the Britney Spears comeback album.
Another recent development; Tori is now an official member of girlband PRINCESS, who will front a track for Ministry of Sound later this year. Expect something ridiculously hot... Keep those eyes peeled.
Tori would like to thank you for stopping by and hopes you enjoy the music, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
