Some of the tracks on this page are of of 'Compassionate Dictatorship (a band which I co-lead with guitarist Jez Franks) from our soon to be released 2nd album. I've also left a couple of tracks up from our previous album 'Coup d'Etat' which was released on the FMR label in 2007, plus I've added a live recording of my new trio with Tim Giles and Dave Mannington.
I've played saxes/flutes/violins with a wide variety of bands in a variety of styles including NYJO (1990-94), the Creative Jazz Orchestra, 'Orquesta La Timbala', and country legend Lee Hazlewood. More recently I've been working with Andy Sheppard, Rory Simmons' 'Fringe Magnetic', pianist and composer Naadia Sheriff, the E17 Big Band, 'Solstice' (a sextet featuring John Turville, Brigitte Beraha, Jez Franks etc), 'Compassionate Dictatorship' and my own trio.
“excellent saxophonist Tori Freestone makes for a very impressive listen….. robust tenor work - Tom Barlow, Jazzwise
“a pleasingly circumspect but powerful and cogent saxophonist” - Chris Parker, Vortex Jazz Review
“Tori Freestone has a warm and open tone, her playing is melodic and innovative. Exploring the full range of the saxophone, Freestone effortlessly switches between fiery and haunting melodies” allaboutjazz.com
