At just 18, Australian singer/songwriter Tori Horgan, has appeared on several television commercials, performed in musical theatre productions, featured at many major events around Australia and has collaborated with some of the world’s most prominent songwriters and producers.
She has been honoured to have sung before Prime Minister John Howard, Her Excellency Governor Marjorie Jackson-Nelson and at only 11 years of age, was invited to perform for President Bill Clinton, at ‘An Evening with President Clinton’ (2001).
Tori’s credits include appearances at the SANFL Grand Final (2002), AFL Showdown 13 (2003), Carols By Candlelight (2001, 2002) and Channel 7’s pilot entertainment show, ‘Mollywood’ with Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum (2004).
In 2004, at the tender age of 14, Tori signed a one-year production deal with Daniel Jones (Savage Garden) through his production label ‘Meridienmusik’. During this period, Tori and Daniel produced a promotional album consisting of songs submitted by writers including Matthew Gerrard, Kara DioGuardi and Charlton Pettus.
April 2006, saw Tori embark on a songwriting journey to New York, Nashville and Los Angeles where she was fortunate enough to work with prominent songwriters and producers including Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Toby Gad (Fergie – ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, Beyonce, The Veronicas, Natasha Beddingfield) and Michael Garvin (Jennifer Lopez).
During the past two years, Tori has been continuing her development as an artist and has been very fortunate to work with some of Australia’s most talented musicians, including Daniel Jones, Jamie Sullivan, Gary Pinto (Guy Sebastian), Phil Turcio and Paul Cecchinelli (Guy Sebastian, Vanessa Amorosi).
In July 2008, Tori embarked on a 3-month songwriting journey around the world, meeting and collaborating with writers/producers in New York, Los Angeles, London, Stockholm and Denmark. Works included co-writes with Justin Gray (Joss Stone), Emmy-award winning producer/songwriter Michele Vice-Maslin, Harry Maslin (Janis Joplin, Dionne Warwick, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, John Lennon), Dee Adam (Newton Faulkner, Ricki Lee), Emmy-nominated lyricist Amy Powers (Barbara Streisand, Brian McKnight), Matthew Puckett, Tommy Denander (Sheryl Crowe, Eric Clapton, Richard Marx), Didrik & Sebastian Thott (Lindsay Lohan, Celine Dion), Kevin Malpass (Tina Arena – Tori recorded, ‘The Only One’, co-written by Tina), Deanna (Sex and The City), Myles Clarke (Danni Minogue) and Pete Davis (Gwen Stefani).
2009 has proven to be a very successful year for Tori already. Highlights include winning Triple M's Anthem Singer Competition after receiving over 10,000 public votes to sing the National Anthem at the Tour Down Under before a crowd of 100,000. Tori has also been short-listed for the APRA 2009 Professional Development Awards, which will be held in Sydney in March.
Just to top off a great start to the year, Tori has been selected by Arts SA as the recipient for the 2008 Contemporary Music Grant which will allow Tori to return to Los Angeles, Atlanta and London later this year to continue her collaborations with some of the world's greatest songwriters and producers. Keep your ears and eyes open - this is only the start to what will be a massive year!
