the original sounds of 40s and 50s hillbilly jazz, rockabilly, western swing, traditional country, and rhythm n blues. Especially Jimmy Bryant, Sid King, Lew Williams, Charlie Feathers and all the Sun cats, Faron Young, Webb Pierce... you get the idea? Contemporary faves include Wayne Hancock and Big Sandy.

Swinging rockabilly. The studio recordings featured on our myspace player are from our debut album - "Rockin' up a Storm" - the first two are originals. Macy Skipper's "Bop Pills" is taken from our limited edition "Live at the Mustang Bar" CD, recorded on a hot Saturday night, early in 2007. If you like what you hear, please let us know!
In August 2006, Jay & Andy (both ex-Salt Flat Trio) teamed up with Howlin' Moondoggies frontman Marco, to form a new swingin', traditional-style rockabilly trio - the Tornado Alleycats. A whirlwind 12 months saw the cats tearing it up all over the country - including Wintersun & Tamworth festivals, a Slim Jim Phantom support in Perth, and shows in Melbourne. In early 2007, they released two albums - Live at the Mustang, and Rockin' up a Storm, and also recorded at Melbourne's legendary Preston studios. Due to various commitments however, the boys stopped performing in August 2007.
Marco is currently playing in the rockabilly outfit The Continentals. Andy (Jumpin' Jack) performs regularly with his bands Rocket to Memphis (voodoo/swampabilly) and the High Rollin' Rhythm Kings (western swing / rockabilly).
Thanks to everyone who supported the Alleycats during our whirlwind year! Pic below (shot by our friend Chrissy) is from our last trip over to Melbourne, where Jay and Andy performed with Hank and Dave from the Jalopy Demons, as "Hank & the Westonairs". The other Alleycats video, shot at Tamworth (Jan 07), was kindly supplied by Ella.
