"For He has torn us, that He may heal us; He has struck us down, and He will bind us up"
"Way Out" LIVE/ACOUSTIC
Torndown is a Christian Rock band whose roots are in central Connecticut. The band consists of the following members:
Tim Irish - Vocals/Guitars/Keys
Dan Bolduc - Vocals/Guitars
Eric Armstrong - Bass Guitar
Jonah Sullivan - Drums
Torndown began in the late fall of 2007 as an acoustic duo in Tim Irish and Dan Bolduc.
Tim and Dan were introduced in 2000 and over the past 9 years have made music and developed their talents. During this time, the two encountered and overcame many obstacles that stood in the way of pursuing their dream of making music, but still kept that hope alive.
In 2005 Dan found Christ. In the fall of 2007, this newly found faith gave him a renewed drive to make music; music with a message. This meshed well with Tim's ever-present beliefs and gave them both the passion to set out on this new purpose-driven mission.
The two pondered a name for their new band and came up with torndown. It was inspired by Hosea 6:1 “Come, let us return to the Lord, for He has torn us, that He may heal us; He has struck us down, and He will bind us up.” This verse proves to be reality for the two, as it is evident that God is at work in both of their lives; tearing them down, only to rebuild them stronger and renewed.
The group released their first album, the Acoustic EP, in May of 2008 and have toured New England playing their acoustic set at dozens of different venues. Local radio play, and performances pushed the two to look to the next step. Though torndown began as acoustic act, the roots of rock music were always present. The passion for rocking with purpose was the intent but not having the musicians in place allowed the acoustics to pave their way and gave them a start. Months of prayer and searching ended with what can only be described as God's providence. Jonah Sullivan, a drummer from Indiana, sent an unprompted message inquiring about the open position, despite the 1000 miles he was away from the bands home. After just one audition, Jonah took his place with torndown.
The next and last addition to the band came in early 2009. Eric Armstrong, a childhood friend of Tim and Dan's, moved back to Connecticut after living in several spots around the country. Eric played in a band with Tim and Dan years ago so when the opportunity to play bass guitar for torndown came up, it was an easy fit.
Now that the missing pieces are a thing of the past, the band is working on and culturing their always intended sound and style.
Spotlighting the mercy, grace, and glory of God, torndown hopes to meet people where they are with their music, causing change and stirring hearts. The purpose of torndown is to share a message of hope in a world where hope is hard to find. “Reaching people with our music is the plan” says Irish. “Music that speaks about eternal things and the building up of a Kingdom.” Lives change when the true message of Christ is heard.
The band possesses a passion for music and a faith that drives it. With torndown’s new sound and style taking shape, they plan on venturing to reach those that might not yet have heard this message of hope they proclaim.
