It is my pleasure to introduce you to the creative jazz trio known as The Frontier. Our sound is steeped heavily in the jazz idiom but also reflects our taste for rock and funk. Our music is very unique and displays an affinity for freedom, passion and creativity. We are gaining a healthy following here in Toronto because of that.
Adam Teixeira on drums, Justin Gray on electric bass and Chris Evans on electric guitar make up The Frontier. We met at Humber College, where we all were studying jazz performance. Our unique taste for free jazz and funk-fusion is what set us apart from most of the student body there and is how we found each other. We’ve been exploring new sounds and rhythms together as a trio for just over a year.
As a new group in Toronto, it’s not always easy to break through and get a tonne of attention. However, we’ve been played regularly on The Jazz Zone with Tien Providence (CKLN 88.1FM). Also, we are playing regularly at some of Toronto’s hippest clubs, including Trane Studio, the Gladstone Hotel and NOW Lounge. Our first LP is also in the midst of being mixed and mastered with a tentative release date of ??sooner or later?? So, we’ve only been on the scene for a very short time, but we’re already gaining some notoriety in the Toronto jazz scene for being unique, exciting and always engaging - a group to really look out for this summer.
Finally, we’d like to thank you for checking us out and taking interest in new, creative music.
