Lección Nº1: divertirse haciendo mùsica.
Lección N° 2: amarse haciendo música.
Inicia su carrera discográfica en el año 1994 con la edición de Sin cielo ni gloria (DBN), disco en el que graba once temas de su autoría con la producción artística de Lito Vitale.
Durante 1995, presenta el material por salas de Buenos Aires y del interior del país, incluído el escenario de Cosquín, al mismo tiempo que comienza a preparar un espectáculo junto al maestro Virgilio Expósito, Dos tiempos, que es presentado a fines de ese año. A partir de ese momento, Gabriela decide afirmar su carrera como intérprete de tango.
En el 96 graba Flores Profanas (DBN), esta vez con repertorio de tangos clásicos más la inclusión de dos temas originales de Hipólito Torres (su padre) y una versión del tema Loca tuca de Dios de Fito Páez.
Este disco cuenta nuevamente con la dirección musical de Lito Vitale y en él participan grandes músicos como Rodolfo Mederos, Lucho González, Javier Malosetti, Marcelo Torres, Ernesto Snajer, Lito y el Maestro Virgilio, que puso su voz inconfundible en Maquillaje.
Con él recibe tres nominaciones para los premios ACE a la música en los siguientes rubros: Artista revelación, Mejor disco Música Ciudadana, y Mejor Viedeoclip, por el tema Desencuentro, con dirección de Natalia Smirnoff.
En este año se presenta por segunda vez en el festival de Cosquín.
En 1997 Gabriela da un giro definitivo a su carrera con el disco Círculos de Fuego (BMG) con la producción de Afo Verde y La dirección musical de Vitale nuevamente. En él cuenta con la valiosa colaboración de un seleccionado de músicos de altísimo nivel, integrado por: Néstor Marconi, Oscar Giunta, Mono Izarrualde, Javier Malosetti, Walter Ríos, Ernesto Snajer, Lucho González, entre otros.
Este trabajo, que tuvo el valor y la responsabilidad de aportarle a un género tan vasto como el tango, nuevas composiciones, contó con otro equipo de lujo para tamaña empresa formado por Adrián Abonizio, Hipólito Torres, Lucho González y Lito Vitale. Con él Gabriela recibe las más elogiosas críticas de los medios especializados por su particular estilo interpretativo, como así también por el altísimo nivel de las composiciones creadas especialmente para ser cantadas por ella.
Círculos de Fuego se presenta en una exitosa temporada en el Teatro de La Comedia, luego de una extensa gira de presentación por todo el país junto a artistas como Raly Barrionuevo, con más de 10.000 personas en cada concierto.
En el 98 se presenta junto a los maestros Horacio Salgán Y Ubaldo De Lío, en el teatro Auditorium de Mar del Plata y en otras ciudades de la costa atlántica.
En el mes de Junio La compañía discográfica decide relanzar Círculos de Fuego, con el bonus de tres temas: Los Inútiles de Flavio Cianciarullo (bajista de los Fabulosos Cadillacs), De tacos gastados, de Abonizio-Vitale-González y el tema Nunca Más, en el que por primera vez se aborda el tema de la dictadura militar en un tango, con letra de Iván Noble (Los caballeros de la quema) Abonizio, y música de Lito y Lucho.
El disco relanzado se presenta en una extensa y exitosa temporada en el Club del Vino de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, donde Torres invita a compartir su escenario a importantes figuras de la música, como Pedro Aznar, Víctor Heredia, Liliana Herrero, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Julia Zenko, Lidia Borda, Alejandro Lerner, Nacha Guevara, Iván Noble, Flavio Cianciarullo, entre otros.
Las presentaciones continuaron por diferentes escenarios y en los Festivales Buenos Aires No Duerme y Festival de Tango.
En 1999, Gabriela decide llevar su sociedad musical con Lucho González al escenario del Club del Vino donde realizan un exitoso ciclo.
En el año 2000 es invitada a participar del Festival argentino que se realizó en el Barbicam Centre de la ciudad de Londres. Allí se presenta en trío junto a Carlos Buono en el Bandoneón y a Lucho González en Guitarra.
A partir de ese año comienza junto al productor Afo Verde a preparar lo que será su cuarto disco Vení (2003, BMG)
En este trabajo, Gabriela vuelve a dar un giro significativo a su carrera y va por más, extendiendo su repertorio a la milonga y los ritmos rioplatenses más los aires de Bossa nova que surgen de sus propios temas.
Siguió contando con la colaboración autoral de Iván Noble más la incorporación al equipo de Juan Subirá (Bersuit Vergarabat) y musical de Lito Vitale y Lucho.
Esta vez, decide retomar su veta autoral y lo hace con cuatro temas: Simple, que tiene como invitado al gran músico Jorge Drexler, en Guitarra y Voz, Cinco minutos antes de despertar, Peter Pan y Caminos en el mar, esta vez con Vicentino como invitado.
El disco es recibido muy bien por la prensa que decide nominarlo a los premios Gardel a la música en la categoría Tango (nuevas formas).
Durante 2003 recibe la invitación del gran músico brasilero Arthur de Faria para acompañarlo en su presentación en el Teatro ND Ateneo en el festival Brasil, otras músicas.
En el 2004 el sello inglés UK records decide incorporar el tema Vení en un disco doble llamado Nu tango junto a otros artistas como Mercedes Sosa, Gotan Project, Adriana Varela, El arranque, entre muchos otros.
Vení es presentado por distintos escenarios de la capital y del interior del país.
En 2005 comienza la grabación de su nuevo disco “No tan distinta”
(2006, EPSA Music) donde asume por primera vez la responsabilidad de la producción artística junto a Matías Cella.
Éste es un disco con ocho canciones de su autoría, en el que Gabriela sigue transitando ese camino de fusión rítmica que comenzara en su anterior trabajo.
Con la presencia, una vez más, de grandes artistas que acompañan su
trayectoria, como Lito Vitale y Lucho González, el disco junta talentos como el del maestro Carlos Buono (en el bandoneón), con el piano y la guitarra de Juan Subirá y Pepe Céspedes (Bersuit Vergarabat) en el intenso tema que les pertenece “Está apunao”. Y como el del cantante y compositor Kevin Johansen, con quien hace un bello y sutil dúo en el tema que cierra el disco, “Panadero”.
“No tan distinta”, que fue grabado con el apoyo incondicional de grandes músicos como Mati Cella, Fernando Mántaras, Luciano Vitale, Juan Buonuome, Martín González, Pablo Guerra, Dorita Chávez, Pol Neiman, Javi Viña, Omar Ramirez, entre otros, fue presentado en La Trastienda Club el día 8 de Diciembre de 2006.
“No tan distinta” ha sido nominado para los premios Gardel a la música argentina 2007 en el rubro mejor álbum artista pop femenina.
Durante 2007 Gabriela realiza su primera y exitosa gira europea.
Haciendo presentaciones en Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla y Bruselas.
En el mes de diciembre produce junto a Matías Cella y graba una versión del tema Esos locos bajitos, para que se incluya en el disco Señoras, homenaje a Serrat que editará próximamente el sello catalán Discmedi. Este disco, que tiene la producción artística de Joan Surribas, cuenta también con la participación de artistas latinoamericanas y españolas como Martirio, Lila Downs, Andrea Echeverri, Adriana Varela, Dulce Ponte, entre otras.
En Febrero participa en los conciertos de verano de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, haciendo un show en el escenario de Costanera Sur.
Durante Septiembre y octubre de 2009 realizó una extensa gira europea presentándose en el Festival Merkat de La música viva de Vic, Barcelona, en Madrid, Sevilla, Murcia, Estocolmo, Bruselas.
En Septiembre de este año, volverá a Europa para realizar conciertos en el marco de la presentación de la edición Europea de su disco No tan distnita (2009 World Village-Harmonia Mundi)

She began her recording career in 1994 with the edition of “Sin cielo ni gloria” (DBN), containing eleven tracks composed by her, with the artistic production by Lito Vitale.
In 1995, she presented her work in different places, in Buenos Aires and the interior of the country, including the Cosquín’s stage. At the same time, she began preparing a show with Maestro Virgilio Espósito, “Dos tiempos”, which was presented at the end of the same year. From then on, Gabriela decided to affirm her career as a tango singer.
In 1996 she recorded “Flores Profanas” (DBN), this time with a classic tango repertoire plus the inclusion of two original songs belonging to her father, Hipólito Torres, and a version of “Loca tuca de Dios”, by Fito Páez. This album directed by Lito Vitale also included the participation of noted artists such as: Rodolfo Mederos, Lucho González, Javier Malosetti, Marcelo Torres, Ernesto Snajer, Lito and Maestro Virgilio, who put his unmistakable voice to “Maquillaje”.
With the album “Flores Profanas “she received three nominations to the ACE Music Awards in the following categories: Revelation Artist, Best Citizen Music Record, and Best Videoclip for the song “Desencuentro”, directed by Natalia Smirnoff.
In this year she performed for the second time at Cosquín’s Festival.
In 1997 Gabriela took a definitive turn in her career, with the record “Círculos de Fuego” (BMG), produced by Afo Verde and with the musical direction of Lito Vitale. This recording counts with the collaboration of top ranking musicians such as: Néstor Marconi, Oscar Giunta, Mono Izarrualde, Javier Malosetti, Walter Ríos, Ernesto Snajer, Lucho González, among others.
Her album “Círculos de Fuego” had the value of adding new compositions to the vast tango music sort. For such an enterprise, a luxurious team was formed by: Adrián Abonizio, Hipólito Torres, Lucho González and Lito Vitale. Due to her unique interpretative style and the high level songs, especially composed to be sung by her, Gabriela received highly favourable critiques from the media.
“Círculos de Fuego” was performed in a successful season at La Comedia theatre, after an extended tour through out the country. She presented her album together with other artists like Raly Barrionuevo. Each concert was attended by more than 10,000 people.
In 1998 she performed together with maestro Horacio Salgán and maestro Ubaldo De Lío, at Auditorium theatre, in Mar del Plata, and other towns of the Atlantic Coast. In June, the music company decided to re-release “Círculos de Fuego” with three bonus tracks: “Los Inútiles” by Flavio Cianciarullo (bassist of “los Fabulosos Cadillacs”), “De tacos gastados”, by Abonizio-Vitale-González and the song “Nunca Más”, which introduced in a tango the military dictatorship’s theme for the first time. “Nunca Mas” was written by Iván Noble (“Los caballeros de la quema”) and Abonizio, and composed by Lito Vitale and Lucho González.
The re-released record was presented in an extended and successful season at the Club del Vino, in the city of Buenos Aires, where Torres invites famous musicians to share the stage like, Pedro Aznar, Víctor Heredia, Liliana Herrero, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Julia Zanko, Lidia Borda, Alejandro Lerner, Nacha Guevara, Iván Noble, Flavio Cianciarullo, among others.
The presentations continued on different stages, and in the following festivals: Buenos Aires No Duerme and Festival de Tango.
In 1999, Gabriela decided to bring her musical partnership with Lucho González to the Club del Vino, performing a successful cycle.
In the year 2000 she was invited to participate at the Argentine’s Festival, which takes place at the Barbicam Centre, in London. There she performed in trio with Carlos Buono on bandoneon and Lucho González on guitar.
From this year, she began preparing for her fourth álbum, “Vení” (BMG, 2003), with producer Afo Verde.
In this work, Gabriela takes another significant turn in her career and aspires for more extending her repertoire to milonga and rhythms from Río de la Plata plus Bossa Nova airs, which emerged from her own songs.
Iván Noble continued collaborating with her as an author, and Juan Subirá (Bersuit Vergarabat) joined the team. Lito Vitale and Lucho González continued their musical collaboration.
This time, she decided to retake her author’s vein and does it with four more songs: "Simple”, with the great musician Jorge Drexler, on guitar and voice, “Cinco minutos antes de despertar”, “Peter Pan” y “Caminos en el mar”, this last with Vicentico as an invited guest.
The album “Vení” had a very good reception by the press, who decided to nominate it to the Gardel awards in the heading Tango (new forms).
In 2003 she was invited by the great Brazilian musician Arthur de Faria, to join him on his performance at the “Brasil’s festival - otras músicas”, in the ND Ateneo Theatre.
In 2004 the British music company UK Records decided to include Gabriela’s song “Vení” in the double CD called “Nu Tango”, together with other artists like Mercedes Sosa, Gotan Project, Adriana Varela, El arranque, among many others.
The album “Vení”, was presented on many stages of Buenos Aires and the rest of the country.
In 2005 she began recording her new álbum “No tan distinta” (2006, EPSA Music), in which she assumes, for the first time, the responsibility of the artistic production together with Matías Cella.
This album has eight songs composed by her. In this album, Gabriela continued journeying the way of rhythmical fusion, which she began in her previous works.
One more time, her album counts with the presence of great artists who have accompanied her in her trajectory, such as Lito Vitale and Lucho González, and other talented musicians like, maestro Carlos Buono (on bandoneon), Juan Subirá (on piano and guitar) and Pepe Céspedes (from the band “Bersuit Vergarabat”). Buono and Céspedes performed their intense song “Está apunao”, with Gabriela Torres. The singer and composer Jevin Johansen, takes part from a beautiful and subtle duo in the last track of the album, “Panadero”.
“No tan distinta”, was recorded with the unconditional support of remarkable musicians like Mati Cella, Fernando Mántaras, Luciano Vitale, Juan Buonuome, Martín González, Pablo Guerra, Dorita Chávez, Pol Neiman, Javi Viña, Mariela Mendez Christie, Omar Ramirez, among others. The album was presented on the 8th of December 2006 in La Trastienda Club. It received a nomination for the Gardel awards.
During 2007 Gabriela makes her first and successful European tour, performing in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Brussels.
In December she produced with Matías Cella and recorded a version of the song “Esos locos bajitos” to be included in the album “Señoras”, tribute to Joan Manuel Serrat which will be soon edited by the Catalan music company Discmedi. This CD, artistically produced by Joan Surribas, counts also on the participation of Latin American and Spanish artists like Martirio, Lila Downs, Andrea Echeverri, Adriana Varela, Dulce Ponte, and others.
In February 2008, Gabriela performed a show at the South Riverside stage, as a contributor to the summer concerts of the city Buenos Aires.
At present, Gabriella is preparing a European Tour that will start with a concert at the Merkat de la Música Viva de Vic. Then, she will perform in Brussels, Stockholm, Paris and Madrid.
