Lately we have created a late seventies Talking Heads type fusion by using funk, jazz and reggae for influence. THIS NEW MUZIK IS NOT RELEASED ON RECORDINGS YET. For quite a while we helped alienate what was left of our fickle "goth" audience by experimenting with Experimental Asian muzik. Influenced by ragas from South India, ambiant koto music of Japan, classical music of China, the wild folk music of Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Turkey and Syria. Combine this with the art rock ideas of David Bowie, Brian Eno, Throbbing Gristle, Dalis Car, Tuxedomoon and the Legendary Pink Dots. It was very improvisational based with pockets of fixed melodies in it for vocals. We will continue to morph into different projects and sounds over the years.

- If you look closely, you will notice that there is NO period (.) after the Z in my middle name. It is JUST Z .It does not stand for anything. That is actually my middle name "Z". My consistent main interest is creating a particular Fusion Art of Surrealism, Science Fiction (Philip K. Dick/Dune/Asimov/old Star Trek) Asian/Middle Eastern folk music, African percussion, improvisation, electronic/acoustic "noise" and Bowie/Eno influenced New Wave. Both in look and sound. I always felt that for ME to create the type of visual and audible art that I wanted that I would have to BE art as well. My hair, face and clothing is the result of painting and sculpture. Painting your face is no different than painting a canvas to ME. Sculpting geometrical shapes with your hair is to ME, sculpture. When I have finished doing this each morning. THEN I am ready to do theatre, art and muzik. If it sounds pretentious it really isn't THAT much different than the Rodeo Cowboy that feels obligated to don a pair of leather chaps, pointed boots and a cowboy hat before he can climb on a horse and lasso up a small calf in front of hundreds of people. It is not that he CANNOT do this amazing feat of roping, bullying, tying up and then dragging this tiny threatening calf to its death in front of a cheering crowd..........-in fact, I don't know WHY the hell I dress funny. Great show last Friday night! Your latest sound reminds me of some of my favorites from childhood, namely these guys (in addition to, of course, the Clinton/Bootsy Parliament/P-Funk/Funkadelic gang):
Tory! I really enjoyed your show at Webster the other weekend, very cool! I am throwing a bellydance and music event at Ciceros on Sunday, June 14, I hope you and Venus can make it out for this! x Cora
How great is Bejart's Bhakti? Seriously, why is this not a part of your live shows? although that choreography is looking a bit aped from Nijinska's Bolero, y'know?
God, I can't believe I just typed that without wearing a monocle...
"There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic." Anais Nin
[It's been a long long time T. I hope that you're doing well. ]

I remember you coming in one day singing the rock opera "jesus christ superstar" with full red mohawk. I still tell that story from time to time. Glad to see you here. You'll have to come out to the old neighborhood and check out the studio sometime, you may have to rob a bank to get the gas money.
