Neurosis (and related projects), Godflesh (and related projects), Isis (and related projects), Jesus Lizard, Gallhammer, Unsane, Black Sabbath etc. Pretty much the entire contents of the record collection of your pretentious ex-roommate with a wardrobe composed entirely of band shirts, who always stole your fruit snacks out of the pantry then denied it. But then a bunch of stuff like old Madonna and Elton John and the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, because frankly being pretentious all the time is exhausting.
Band bios are often written in third person so you get the impression that the band is some sort of big deal who hired a fancy public relations hotshot to write their bio for them, and probably have an army of lackeys doing things like hand feeding them orange M&Ms and rubbing the oil of endangered jungle cats into their fretboards. Fuck that, I'm writing this in first person. We are two women who make technically-inclined nerdy br00tal noise rock. We are married to our instruments, and we have been playing together in various formats for a long time; TOSCA is the purest expression of our intense dislike for more or less everything except playing music. If it's too loud, you're definitely too damn old, and if you can't mosh to 7/8 you damn well better learn. Enjoy.
Support doom, sludge, stoner, noise, ambient, drone, etc. Why? Because it rules.
so i found you two days ago and half of my friends are already crazy about you. what's your main project/band? are you touring at all? if you come down to tampa, we'll totally put you up, get you venues, food, whatevs. otherwise, i'll be in nyc come august 2010 and the offer still stands. would LOVE to talk electronics/vox, whatevs. hardcore props. ♥
I don't know much about Frank Herbert, but judging by the wikipedia article...I think I should. Sadly, those spraypainted messages have long disappeared. I thought they were generic statements aimed at waking people up, and that kind of stuff makes me tingly inside. haha. Fear is THE mind killer? Clearly, I must read Dune.
Yes. Your music is rad. Hopefully you make it three hours north soon?
You showed me! I met you (briefly) at the Buried Inside/Ken Mode show in Calgary, recognized you immediately through the monkey page. I've enjoyed the material you two have up on the myspace immensely, hope to come across more.. perhaps a release sometime soon?
Yes! That would be swell! I was just listening to you gals by the way! I like! Took me a second to click in! I know these girls! Thanks for the add! Talk to you soon then!
