Post-folk band, Toshi-Record were formed in 1998 by university friends Tadahiro Hiyamizu (Guitar), Yoshiharu Okubayashi (Guitar), and Syoichi Watanabe (Keyboards). The line-up was augmented in 2002 with the arrival of Hitoshi Nakamura (Bass) and they made their full house with Tomoaki Ishii (Drums) in 2003.
Their debut album, 'Toshi Blues' (2001), follow-up EP, 'Kanashimi nante mada shiranaiyo' (2001), second album, 'Hana To Taiyo' (2003) and third album,'Homare' were all released on Poet Portraits Records to great acclaim from many, including fellow musicians.
Outstanding songwriters, Hiyamizu and Okubayashi capture vivid, subtle images of everyday life, carefully weaving them into melodies. Their harmonic singing effects in the listener a nostalgia for the childhood that maybe never was.
Their long-awaited 4th album, 'Sing Again' will be released in November 2008 and the playlist is as follows:
