Tosser plays Original Rock and the Best Rock Covers: Classics to Today: Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles, Bowie, Stones, U2, Cure, Jet, The Killers, Guns-n-Roses, Green Day, Snow Patrol, and more......
Tosser was formed in late 2004 by Alex Dubovoy & Colin McCarthy for 1 purpose. They both wanted to have a band that was a lot of fun. Playing music that people wanted to hear while they are getting drunk. That would take a lot of work, so Alex & Colin immediately got drunk & discussed what songs they should be playing. Once they sobered up and had basic set list, they sought out a bass player & a singer to join them on their quest. Alex put up an ads on the internet for a singer and bass player. The first person to answer the ad was Lars. Alex & Colin had no idea what to think of him & his huge afro, but once they started jamming together, the band clicked immediately. Lars's vocal range & stage presence were fantastic.
Suffering from a revolving door of bass players and hangovers, they came across Declan Coyle. After auditioning for a few minutes, everyone knew that Declan was the right man for the job. His playing, attitude, and drinking ability were exactly what the band was looking for. Once Declan joined the band, the chemistry was immediately there, & Tosser was ready to take the scene by storm.
The band began rehearsing in the basement of McLoughlins an authentic Irish Pub in Astoria for hours on end. Every time the band rehearsed, they were affectionately referred to as the Tossers in the Basement from the bar patrons. The band shortened it to Tosser & the name stuck. The band recalls their first gig - It was on St. Patricks Day at McLoughlins. The band knew that if they could survive that gig, they would be unstoppable. Alex recalls, We finished the first set with Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 and the crowd went absolutely crazy. The floor was shaking so much, I thought I was back in California.
Tosser has played all the top Irish Pubs in NYC, Astoria, Woodlawn, and other areas in New York. Every gig they play has a few things in common: High Energy, a Big Crowd, and Lots of Fun & Drinking. Tosser usually plays well into the night playing for an average of 3 to 4 hours. When people come to a Tosser gig, they don't come to see a band play They come to a huge party.
