Founded in 1989 by Philadelphia-based DJ Legend and the DuLaio Twinz - Total Kaos Records emerged onto the Freestyle scene in 1991 with the release of the underground Philly Freestyle anthem "TROUBLE LOVE" by The DuLaio Twinz. Despite lack of radio support, the single quickly became a favorite among DJs and Freestyle fans.
The DuLaio Twinz released their second single, "NO REASON FOR TEARS", the following year. With only 500 copies pressed and no distribution beyond a very limited number of local Freestyle-Friendly Philadelphia record stores, the song followed in the footsteps of "TROUBLE LOVE" and became not only an instant classic, but a hard-to-find rarity.
As the 1990's unfolded, Total Kaos Records grew increasingly dissatisfied with the new music being released by other Freestyle record labels. Because of the downward trend that Freestyle music endured in the mid-1990's, the decision was made to cease operations in 1996.
In 1997, Total Kaos recording artist Rocco Ragazzo licensed his unreleased first single, "CRYING INSIDE", to the Hot Productions affiliated label, Boca Records. The song was co-written by Rocco Ragazzo and produced by DJ Legend. Unfortunately, when the song was released on Boca's 3rd Freestyle compilation, writing and production credit was falsely given to the Boca Records crew. Even today, many Freestyle fans feel that "CRYING INSIDE" was the stand out track on Boca Freestyle, Vol. 3
2003: As dance music re-enters Top 40 radio and many so-called New School Freestyle releases are lacking the quality of the Old School Freestyle classics, DJ Legend along with fellow hardcore Freestyle enthusiasts Rhoq, Rummy G. and Fernando Benitez felt it was time for Total Kaos Records to relaunch and give the Freestyle fans what they have been missing for over a decade: quality, hardcore, Freestyle jams that will satisfy your craving for that Old School Freestyle sound.
With new projects already well underway, Total Kaos expects to begin releasing material very soon. A Total Kaos Freestyle compilation is planned for release at some point in 2009.
Total Kaos Records is back. We will be working with Old School legends as well as some of the New School's brightest stars. We will bring you new material from Total Kaos artists The DuLaio Twinz & Rocco Ragazzo, Old School legends such as Cherée, and of course introduce you to a few talented new artists that will get you excited about Freestyle music once again!
