| About Njacko Backo and the Toumkak Drummers |

The Toumkak Drummers are a high energy percussion group, led by master drummer Njacko Backo of Cameroon. The drummers blend the rich rhythms and deep spirituality of Central and West Africa into a lively interactive performance with their audiences. They have performed at Music Africa’s Afrofest, Muhtadi’s Interanational Drum Festival, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Opera House, at an Engineers Without Borders event, and for Black History Month celebrations. The Toumkak Drummers arose out of the community drumming school of Njacko Backo. It is a culturally and racially diverse group of women and men from all walks of life who share a deep passion for the drum. They celebrate life through the voice of drum and song. They explore and combine the rhythms of the djembe, toumkak, conga, bass drum, shakers, and bells, as well as the Kalimba and ngoni. Hear their spirits soar. Feel your spirit rise. Njacko Backo and The Toumkak Drummers are available for celebrations, fundraising events, cultural celebrations, and corporate functions.
