Toy Soldier (aka Cian) is a Cork-based Electropop duo with a fresh new sound encapsulating a summer vibe. Think of a beach party with Hot Chip, Ladyhawke and Cut Copy all invited.
Having performed this years IMRO showcase and been included on IMRO’s Star newspaper compilation, Toy Soldier are proving a force to be reckoned with in 2009.
Other recent accolades have been a blistering set at the Hard Working Class Heroes festival, ‘Pick of the Fortnight’ in Hot Press and tour of west coast USA.
Toy Soldier is Cian Walsh (Voice, Synth, Guitar) and Fergal McCarthy (Drums and Live Programming).
“Before Fergal and I met I had been studying Classical music at the Cork School of Music while he was in Brighton studying drums at BIMM. Both fresh out of college we started jamming and Toy Soldier was born” , explains frontman Cian.
The US tour saw Toy Soldier play many prestigious venues including the ‘House of Blues’ on Sunset Boulevard as well as featuring on popular LA station KCSNfm.
Toy Soldier’s ‘Climbing Trees’ has just been released on a compilation entitled Café Groove Volume 1 under the Harvest Music label in the USA.
Toy Soldier are currently gearing up to promote upcoming single ‘Wild One’ as it hits the airwaves in November.
