When I recorded my CD, "So Little Has Changed", at Jack's Tracks in Nashville, it was an emotional moment for me because that building has been my favorite place to record, and just hang for over 35 years...whew!
My friend Steve Wallace came along and took pictures and video of the occasion. We did a week's worth of 2, 3 hour sessions a day...PuffBunny Records catered some food...we went for a live studio performance and rarely did more than 2 takes of any song...I worked from a song list and sang what felt right at the moment. The musicians listened as I ran the song down once or twice while Mark Miller set the levels and "rollin'!" came next...improvisational and spontaneous, the way recording happened in the early years. It was magical! Below are some pics for posterity.
"Pie fully embraces and emphasizes the very spirit of the Americana music genre according to our interpretations and standards. Her lyrics are rich and her vocals are fully captivating. Taylor Pie is a Texas Rebel Radio defining artist!”
-Dawn Dale, Program Director KFAN , KFAN, 107.9
"I listened to her song ‘Long Ride Home’ about 100 times in a row, so, I had no choice but to record it. I loved it. Her guitar work, lyrics, and vocals are amazing and their depth gets to me with every listen.” -Terri Hendrix -Wilory Records
"Taylor Pie is worthy of folk buzz…combining a perfect lyrical, musical and vocal recipe, Pie put on the most refreshing, witty, down to earth show I’ve ever experienced. Pie IS staple folk comfort food and should be served up in every listening environment across this country. "
- LANE GOSNAY, FOUNDER, THE BUGLE BOY
"Taylor - I love your "Long Ride Home" CD so much I'm going to feature it on the FRONT PAGE of CD Baby for a few days. We're REALLY picky about what goes on the front page.... and your CD is one of the best I've ever heard!”-Derek Sivers, CDBaby
As a teenager, Taylor Pie recorded a song called, "Time", and it hit the 1 slot in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston, followed by four albums on Columbia with the Pozo-Seco Singers. Pie's first solo album was on JMI Records where she co-produced 3 Don Williams chart singles, and then moved to New York City playing clubs like O'Lunney's, Folk City, and The Bottom Line, with Don McLean, Jack Hardy, Johnny Paycheck, and Tom Pacheco.
Her soulful messages tap into familiar feelings that unlock forgotten memories. It is no wonder that Bette Midler, Tanya Tucker, Mickey Gilley, The Forester Sisters, Terri Hendrix, Ruby Lovett, and Valerie Smith have recorded her works. "Just Like Angels", written with Dickey Lee was nominated for the gospel Dove Award, and "Full Grown Fool" written with Allen Reynolds, landed Mickey Gilley a Country top 20.
Her PuffBunny Records, cd, "So Little Has Changed," and live album, "Live at Hondo's" with Eben Wood are in rotation on Americana stations and Satellite X radio.
As Eileen Kuperschmid wrote for the Berkshire Sampler: "Whether she's talking or singing, Taylor Pie's worth listening to. She's clear, real clear- with a mother lode of honesty and a voice as pure and light as it is strong."

Hey there, Here's one from left field... Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat? A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video: Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4 Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice. Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today. I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page above to learn more (Show your support! Rate!
