ThePrimeSpotlights music from the 562 area, all genres. English, Spanish, Khmer, Tagalog... If you are in a band and play live in the 562, we want to hear from you! The only language we do NOT play is OPI (shit, piss, fuck, etc.) so keep it clean!
KaRi was inspired to start a "local" radio show when she tried to donate her (then!) 20 CD's to the local college radio program at LBCC. (She felt guilty playing the music just for herself when she knew the local bands needed more support!) Instructor Ray Burton talked her into taking a class.
She recalled on one of her cross-country road trips being stopped by a herd of cattle in southern Illinois. It was right there she fiddled with the AM station and heard local funeral listings. KaRi decided ThePrimespot Radio would include local information as well. (No funeral listings though - unless YOU want to call them into the show!)
The first time she was on radio was as a guest: She had gone on a self-designed "farming vacation" to Iowa, a state she had never checked out before and the stations out there wanted to know what a "California Gal" was doing in the midwest by herself hangin with the hogs, cows and farmers... The goal was to check out soybeans but ended with hangin' with the WENTE's, the coolest farmers around!

THE PRIME SPOT Radio History
The show was started in 1999 at Long Beach City College and moved to CSULB under the reign of KBEACH.org founder, Mike Soltanian. It is the longest running indie show at KBEACH.org TPSradio expanded to Cerritos College Summer 2005, check out WPMD.org Monday Mornings 9-11am, so now you can start AND end your week with hours of local music!
TPS College Radio is hosted by KaRi of ThePrimeSpot.com. Other CoHosts have included MO POWER and DJ WINGARD MANOR (before they started their own shows at wpmd.org), Poet G MURRAY THOMAS (Every First Friday, 2nd hour!), JOE B. of AAmusic.org, PAT GRAHAM of "Blues Hwy" Radio. Collaboration with SWINGTV.net took place Spring 2007.
