Having fronted such bands as Unit 5, Persona 74 and Gone To Egypt. Tracey Thomas is a musical force to be reckoned with. Tracey moved into "solo mode" in 1994 with the release of her critically acclaimed debut CD "Standing Alone" followed by "The Poet Tree", and "Lights". Changing directions, Tracey released "Dancing in Cairo" her folk-rock-bluegrass masterpiece, which was recorded live in a historic church in the town of Cairo, Ohio. Tracey has just finished working with producer and singer/songwriter Ryan Humbert on her first album in 4 years, "Ghost Town" which will be released on July 21st in a dual CD release party with Ryan Humbert as he releases his new live CD/DVD.
"Ghost Town" features such fan favorite songs as the dark and moody title track, the jangly Byrds-meets-The Bangles "Running Away", the instantly catchy "Someday", as well as never before heard Tracey songs "Ain't I A Woman", "Before Me" and more. The album also features Tracey's stunning cover of the Bruce Springsteen classic "Dancing in The Dark". The album features musical contributions from members of The Speedbumps, The Ryan Humbert Band and Tracey's own band Treble, which features former Unit 5 bassist Mark Jendrisak, his son Mark Jendrisak Jr. on Drums, and Tracey's son Cory Thomas on guitar.
Tracey has played a variety of venues over the years including landmarks such as The Akron Civic Theater, The Kent Stage, Danceteria and CBGB's in NYC. Tracey frequently plays such area venues as The Lime Spider, Jillian's, Lydias and more. Over the years Tracey has shared the bill with many notable musicians including: Melanie, Andy Pratt, Michael Stanley, Tin Huey and The Dead Boys. More recently Tracey has worked with good friend, John Sferra of Glass Harp and recently performed with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
Tracey is a Akron music legend, and with good reason...Her amazing staying power...her talents as a singer and songwriter. At times overlooked, but always adored, Tracey Thomas is Akron's greatest musical treasure.
Great article on Scott in the paper this week. Reminds me that I REALLY need to get out to the store and buy a bunch of records (yeah, I still call them records)! Hope you're doing well.
Another wonderful performance. I'm so glad that I was there not only to play, but to see you in action. Such personality...Wow! And acapella, even! You must be cringing every time that I ask for a request, but I so love your music.
By-the-way, I'm hoping to have a string bass in a couple of weeks. Won't that be cool?
Wow! Ten whole years this month since we first played Somewhere in Time. Where does the time go? What ever became of that song "Dance in Fields of Green?" Do you love "Ghost Town" as much as I do? You really are so inspirational; always have been too.
April 26th... I'll be there! Can't wait to see you. This is gonna' be waaaay cool! You gonna' stick around to hear Raw Purr? I gotta' new bass I'm just dying to show off, and Dawn is one in a million to play for. I'm am so diggin' it!
By-the-way, in addition to Implied Logic, I'm going to be doing some bass work with Raw Purr! I'm really excited to be able to explore music from anothers' perspective.
We did a show at Annabelle's over xmas. Didn't make too big a deal just in case we sucked, BUT in fact it was scary good. I think the best compliment I got was from the guys in the opening band who wondered why we sounded better than them after not playing for 15 yrs...! It was cool, hope we can do it again.
My little diva won't let me make a video of her singing for you until she feels she's had enough rehersal- this could take a while... But we'll get it- and you'll laugh your butt off, I promise!
Love The Music....Someday hopefully I'll actually get to meet you. You and Uncle Scott and the kiddo's should come visit Alaska-it's AWESOME in the summer! I guess my dad is there visiting y'all now?!?
Thought you'd be amused to know Tori now knows all of the words to "Incognito", "Before Me" and "Someday" She keeps asking for "the Tracey songs" She's decided that she's going to sing with you on the next album!
Hey Tracey I'm sorry I missed you at the Lime Spider last night. I didn't know you were playing there until just this morning. Keep those comment reminders coming! Anyway, I look forward to seeing you at the CD release party. Bob and I will be at Tangier. :) Have a great weekend!
