   About Tracksuit
Tracksuit is an up and coming talented high energy 3-piece Perth rock band. Playing a mixture of upbeat swinging, shaking, shimmying rock and roll mused together into interesting brew of tight, catchy, interesting songs with a touch a swagger and psychedelia.
Musically Tracksuit comes from anything from 50’s rock and roll to 90’s Oasis/Supergrass/You Am I type bands. Focusing on 60’s motown/soul and 60’s beat music gives them more dancablility to add to the already big dose of “Tracksuityness”.
Having already shared the stage with acts such as Kram, Yves Klien Blue, Shihad, Kav from Eskimo Joe, The Holidays much more is only a sign of more good things to come for Tracksuit. Having just released a their single ‘Tough Love’ October 2009, which is a continuation from their self titled Ep in June 2008, there seems to be a bit of a buzz happening in and around Perth particularly after experiencing a Tracksuit live show.

Anyone who hasn’t seen Tracksuit, or hasn’t seen them for a while is in for a real treat; they have recently acquired a new drummer, and whilst the old one wasn’t bad, the new one Jay is quite phenomenal. According to a drummer in the crowd, he is technically perfect. He certainly made every movement look effortless, and even managed to sing some lovely harmonies without missing a beat or loosing breath.
For someone who went to watch them saying “I like them enough but I probably wouldn’t rush out to buy an album”, words were definitely eaten by the end; their set was tight and confident, the songs were captivating and the band was funny, (oh, and nice to look at), which is always a nice little bonus.

Recent MTV Kickstart finalists Tracksuit are an interesting mix of influences, a dash of Britpop, a dash of Oz punkabilly (Close your eyes and that could be a double bass.) and a dash of old school dirty-indi-garage all rocked together in the nice little Perth womb we have going here, to create something that reminds you of things you like. Even when Tracksuit reminds you of bands you don’t like, you may find yourself digging it, leading to a realisation that the arrogance of a different and unnecessarily successful band had previously ruined an entire musical style for you. There was no trace of arrogance in Tracksuit’s performance, appearance or demeanour, except perhaps with that one song trashing emos, but even then, the band admitted by way of introduction; “we don’t get it”. Loving every minute of their set, this band managed to draw the early crowd’s attention with their enthusiasm, and the head nodding-toe-tappingness of their tracks until they had a sizeable chunk of the punters grooving away in a clump between the sound desk and the bar, in fact the crowd was clumped everywhere there was a stage view around the bar except on the dance floor where the lights were so bright.

FasterLouder.com

playing a refreshingly straight interpretation of rock with Australian influence. The band’s charming stage presence complements their upbeat, fun and dancy songs, which are structured so that all band members can display their musical competence.

zomgsurprise - FasterLouder.com

Tracksuit's music is as straight-to-the-point and unpretentious as their name - blessing them with the all too rare quality of being a band that doesn't fix what ain't broke. It starts, it rocks, it ends. Perfect.

Xpress Magazine 2008

This local three-piece has been scoring some decent shows of late, including a spot on the recent Triple J's One Night Stand Street Party lineup in Collie. Their straight-up pop rock is laced with an upbeat feel; with some hard hitting drum beats and vocals that almost have a swagger to them. The leading track Nothing Left To Lose and Memory Lane would have to be the stronger tracks on the bands debut EP and demonstrate the potential for good things for the band.

Marcia Czerniak - Drum Media Magazine

Disappointed that Tracksuit didn’t actually wear tracksuits, the crowd listened to a different type of rock for the next 40 minutes. They were knee jingling rock n rollers with a hint of rockabilly in there – listen closely to some of their songs and you’ll hear it. Singer, Steve Hensby oozed an interesting flavour of energy which shouldn’t be seen pre-caffeine. Somewhat reminiscent of a cooler Napoleon Dynamite, Hensby tried to get a lethargic mid-week crowd enthusiastic about their show, using humour, banter and playful threats to stop playing. The same singer was dancing around the stage like a drunk trying to pick up on a Friday night while bassist Andres Pesqueira’s mound of hair flew around to his head bopping.

Hi Guys,

Thank u so much for your hard work on the weekend I can not say how much it means to me and the centre of cerebral palsy. It means a lot that you would give up ur weekend to be a part of this to help a good cause. Over the weekend we raised over $1000 alone and I still have donations rolling in from everyone. I keep saying to all the bands that was involved that my new fav songs and bands is all the bands I have used during this event, everyone has a new fresh sound that is something new and exciting for everyone to hear. I hope you enjoyed the event as much as I did. I hope the gig to support Jimmy Barnes was awesome as well.
