Sounds Like
I am consistently compared to whiskey edged raspy singers like Joplin, Etheridge, Plant, Raitt. I have also been caught singing Billie Holiday style jazz and swing, and did a killer cover of Anne Murray (?), so there. I'm a VOCALIST. Harmonica playing influenced by Sonny Terry, Sonny Boys One & Two, Little Walter, and James Cotton. Songwriting similar to Bonnie Raitt's material, Lucinda Williams, Delbert McClinton, contemporary blues & folk rock styles. My latest recording has even had one critic draw songwriting comparisons to Santana! The same critic also referenced Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee. So you see, we are all unique, and made up of all the millions of little pieces of everything that ever touched our lives - right???? (my little philosophy)

“Tracy K plays a nice harmonica, but the real treat is her voice - well controlled, and gritty as a whisky-soaked hobnail"(Jeremy Loomes, Edmonton Sun, 2007). Tracy K wrote her first song at the age of eight. She has come a long way since then, winning awards for her skills as a singer, songwriter, harmonica player and performer. From blues, folk, and jazz festivals, to theatres, clubs, and cafes, from electric band to acoustic duo, from Canada to the Carribean, her vast experience is a testimony of her talent. Tracy K’s songwriting extends beyond her own repertoire to radio and film work. Since 2000, she has been featured as a main stage attraction, sharing stages and playbills with great legends (Koko Taylor, James Cotton) and exciting newcomers (Watermelon Slim, Serena Ryder).

I was born and raised on the prairies in a small farming community - Beausejour, Manitoba, just 45 minutes east of Winnipeg. I wear my roots like a heart on a sleeve, bringing the intimacy of small-town Canada on-stage whether performing with my band or in my duo. I love country living - wheat fields and the Ukrainian colors of yellow and blue in the blooming canola and flax fields. I love big open skies and sunsets, and aurora borealis in a wide, clear, night sky. I love arid summer heat and wicked thunder storms. I love canoeing, picking mushrooms and berries. I love gardening and canning the harvest. I love flannel shirts and my hiking boots. I love my three musical and intelligent children Jolene (b.1990, violin/fiddle & mandolin), Jackson (b.1992 guitar & vocals), and Emily (b.1994, piano, vocals & cooking!). They are my raison d'etre. I really LOVE PLAYING HARMONICA AND SINGING. My music has brought me some great pleasure and reward. The biggest reward is the excitement and appreciation in a fan's comments, a full dance floor, giving someone reason to dream, or filling that void for them. My son Jackson pointed out that music and joy are the same word in the chinese alphabet. When my music makes someone happy, helps them unwind, relax and have fun, it is a greater achievement and fulfillment than any award I can receive. However, the awards are all hallmarks of a great deal of hard work and time invested into my passion. My career bio on my website tells you everything you need to know about TracyK's music, and my band. My band is amazing. Each one is a huge talent and a whole mess of fun to work with. Do them a favour - check out my website, tracyk.ca, to find out more about them and their musical journeys. Here's a short list of my musical achievements most recent: CBC live recordings of the band and duo in 2008; writing a song for a CBC radio special; writing a song for the six-string nation guitar; several great interviews; the awards listed at top of this bio; 2007 Second release "Old, New, Borrowed & Blues";
2003 Toronto Blues Society's Annual Harmonica Workshop (first female to be featured!);
(Toronto Blues Society & CBC Saturday Night Blues) 16th Annual Women's Blues Revue;
2002 Tracy K penned "Rock This House" for a Los Angeles film (Scared Silent) and performed in the movie; Tracy K plays singer in the band for the movie "More than meets the eye" 2003;
2000 First release all original material "Welcome to my Fantasy"

You need to check out the new Victoria "Blowbox" Harp amp! I was instrumental in designing and getting into their line of top shelf amps. Go to youtube and search me "James Reeser" and there are a couple of recent vids featuring it.
It is a 45 watt 2X8 amp. It looks like a tweed head but yes it has 2 8" speakers in it. No one can believe such a fat rich tone comes from a little amp. It is versatile... light weight... It can be plugged into any speaker cab as it has 2, 4 and 8 ohm output taps. It also has a switch that makes it either a stock 59 Bassman if that is your tone (also for guitar if desired) or flip the switch for the harp special circuits and rich fat harp tone! And yes has plenty of power as a stand alone to keep up with just about any band.
hey tracy i see you are playing in my new hometown, st catharines, unfourtunately i won't be here, i'm off to thunder bay for a couple gigs and to record a new album. i'll spread the word though! take care
I had the pleasure of performing through a 1934 vintage Philmore mic (connected to a 1964 Harmony amp). I wasn't requested to jam too hard, but just LISTEN TO THAT SOUND! Let me know what you think!
Hi Princess!thanks for your support!your music sounds great,very cool and tasty!I am also honored by your add and so much fairness!from Argentina!best wishes and keep in touch!
Deep within us, something stirs to make us care....not that we dont have our own demons but somehow we try and make amends...and yes, the simple things like a touch, a word, a melody, a smile, or going fishing are so important....always great to visit you here and see you live....Ken
Hi Tracy...always nice to be able to say good things about people....You are one of the very best blues singers and a great person too....some talk the talk, but you walk the talk...rare indeed and appreciated...Ken
Hey Tracy, Great hearin from ya Lady! Yea if someone would just grab at the lady harp tour, it would be awesome stuff! Wish there were some strong women promoters or some smart male promoters w/balls and insight to make the move on this! If I had the $ I'd do it myself! I know the family stuff, I have one in college, and the other a jr. in high school. I stopped after #2 and having gotten 1 of each. Lucked out there big time! Hey Tracy: Just checkin in to say hi, it's been a while. It would still be great to get that all lady's harp tour going!
