TRAD CONNECTIONS
Trad Connections is an exciting event bringing together five top Irish musicians with expertise in many different musical genres.
TG4 Young Musician of the Year, Martin Tourish has unrivaled ability on the Piano Accordion, he is as comfortable playing Bach as he is Piazzolla Tangos and traditional music from his native Donegal. He performs regularly as a soloist, in his group Clan Ranald and with the Café Orchestra.
Award-Winning Composer Dave Flynn is best known for his work with world renowned fiddler Martin Hayes for whom he has recently composed a Fiddle Concerto. Dave is also an accomplished musician who plays a number of instruments including guitar and mandolin. He released his debut album 'Draíocht' in 2006.
Internationally Renowned Jazz Guitarist Hugh Buckley is part of Irelands most famous Jazz family and along with his cousins Richie and Michael Buckley he has helped define the Irish Jazz scene in recent years. Hugh has toured internationally and collaborated with some of the worlds leading jazz musicians.
Fiddle Player Liz Coleman is best known for her work with the acclaimed traditional group Nábac with whom she has toured throughout Europe and beyond and appeared on national television and radio. She collaborates regularly with Dave Flynn and features prominently on his album 'Draíocht.'
Ciarán Swift is a versatile multi-instrumentalist specialising in traditional Irish music and bluegrass. He has performed worldwide from Asia to Scandanavia as well as holding weekly residencies in various Dublin venues with fiddle player Cian Loughnane. He featured on Dave Flynn's album 'Draíocht' and has appeared on national television performing with Martin Tourish.
Together these five talented musicians will bring audiences on a magical journey showcasing the links between traditional Irish music, jazz, classical and world music styles.
The event will include some of Dave Flynn's award-winning compositions alongside selections from his acclaimed album "Draíocht"

Hugh Buckley's extensive repertoire as showcased on his albums 'Yes Indeed', 'Spirit Level' and 'Sketches of New', his wonderful new album will also feature during the show.

To top it off all five musicians will come together to create some unique new arrangements marrying all their musical styles together including versions of Flynn's compositions 'Errigal Suite' and 'Ómós do Frankie Kennedy'.
