    After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace...
    Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
    (see my blog for details):
    CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY

    As gospellers have said,
    Beneath signalling skies,
    On land dusty to tread,
    A trough in a stable
    Was the strawy first-bed
    Of a divine baby -
    The forgiving Godhead.

    A season for new hope -
    There then and here now;
    The yuletide of goodwill -
    There then and here now.

    In respect of this chance,
    Beneath bright or dark skies,
    Faith's the star that we glance
    Attending Christ's churches
    And trying to enhance,
    With singing and ritual,
    Our God-loving stance.

    A...

    Oh, and I meant to add that I don't have any trips planned at the moment. What about you?
  • Dec 9 2009 5:35 PM

    Hi Lori, I'm fine thanks but very busy at work at this end of term time. Hope you're well - I like the sound of that gingerbread! :-) Andy x

    Hola
    Part of the idea is to enable small-scale producers, copyright owners
    of digital works (songs,tunes,videos,data) to publish and charge for
    downloading. Music and tune wise we have sorted, still working on
    video. As well as 'Raremusez Basement' (all tunes free or 55p) the
    download area, there is a Members site allowing registered users to
    upload mp3 files which can then be published at the basement. Can you
    pass on details to whoever you think might be interested. Charges/costs
    and how to are available to registered members. The site is built on
    the Joomla open source framework so large scope for development and
    hosting.
    Cheers Coopz new tunes

    Adlai Stevenson said "In quiet places, reason abounds"...think that explains a lot about the current condition of the world! I hope your weekend is full of tranquil spaces and calm! go well, with mirth and music (suitably muted!). x0x

    Good to hear you've been busy - and a new CD coming too! Woo hoo! (I don't usually say this in real life!) Looking forward to adult conversations again! All mine have been said in an over acted very high voice for 3 months! Just waiting for some work to come my way now! And now the music work will flood in because I am doing something else! Already got some wedding bookings! That's life! Will take a peek at your pages later - off out to choir! Oh joy!

    After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

    Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
    (please see my blog):
    TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

    Where traditions are not so rare;
        Sea, country and works scent the air;
    A multitude of monuments,
        Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

    The longish pedestrian malls;
        The remnants of defensive walls;
    Historic buildings are a gauge
        Of the respect for heritage.

    Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
        Estuaries guarded by shields;
    Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
        Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

    Rivers in parts licked by trees,
        Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
    And crossed by practical delights -
        Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

    Fine churches headed at Durham;
        Football kits ad infinitum;
    Kept castles - one for study;
        Masonry behind masonry.

    And, with moulding-works out that way,
    It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

    You will never believe the weather over here; it's warm and raining at the same time.  Really muggy and sticky!  Can't believe it's October.

    How's life with you?  I was back in the studio yesterday and we did 6 tracks in one day (not done and dusted tho) It must be a record!

    My Pleasure.

Blurbs

About me:

A bit of Christmas cheer: Wessex Morris Men Jethro Tull-Ring Out Solstice Bells Photobucket Photobucket "In the dark nights of winter round the peat fire we gathered; With song, tale and laughter the hours we would pass." Hello! Welcome to the Trad Music Cottage, my cosy little site that reflects interests in traditional music, tales, landscape, all kinds of things. Not everything is related, but most all of it is harmonious. I have a deep love and respect for traditional music, particularly Scottish, it being very dear to my heart and in my ancestry, and Irish and English folk music and other kinds. I'm a musician and for more on that go to www.myspace.com/lorihartbarger I sing, play guitar, flute, a bit of mandolin, etc... (also a Celtic cittern and a mountain dulcimer which I don't really know how to play properly). The next instrument I desire to learn is the fiddle (an instrument I'm smitten with!). Photobucket I am also an artist, watercolours being my main medium. My paintings are inspired by nature, folklore, stories and the countryside landscapes of Scotland and England, and are meant to reflect the beauty and peacefulness of rural life. I'm just about to embark on a few new projects involving painting on wood with acrylic paints, and it will be interesting to see how that turns out! .. < Below are a few paintings from over the years, but bear in mind that some of the photographs look rather pale and faded compared to the original paintings. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photobucket back record cover painting from Johnny & Phil Cunningham's record 'Against the Storm' Photobucket Below are some wonderful folk records and some wonderful album covers from the seventies(excuse the wonky angle of some of them)! For some non-traditional music, Jethro Tull, my favourite rock band. Ian Anderson is a remarkably talented man and these records got me into writing songs and teaching myself to play flute years ago. Amazing music!! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Who I'd like to meet:

Creative people who make beautiful things. Honest, sensitive, sincere friends with a good sense of humour who have at least somewhat similar interests and a passion for traditional folk music, played on real instruments. I prefer things that are timeless and appreciate the past with the present, and am not interested in things being trendy or for just the moment. I've found great people on here from many wonderful countries who are making incredibly good and finely crafted music of the highest quality and friends who share a love of good music. I love to receive comments from like-minded friends and to give them (and I do try to leave a comment for everyone, although sometimes I do fall behind) but I'm not interested in adding bands or others who have no similar interests just to add numbers to a list. I also tend to have a good look over everyone's page first before accepting invitations, just to see what you are about, so please don't be offended if I don't accept, as I refuse if your interests are inharmonious with mine, if your page is set to private and I can't see it or it doesn't give any information about you. "To know someone here or there with whom you feel there is an understanding in spite of distances or thoughts unexpressed-that can make this life a garden."
