We are reeling from the loss of our rockin guitarist Emily (Goo) Elhaj...she's not dead or anything, but she did move to Chicago...it's such a huge deal to us that we just haven't known what to do with ourselves. We wish Emily all the best of everything in her new town, and hope that she keeps on rockin...we miss her dearly. So, hopefully there will be more Tragic Girls shows to come, but at this point we are just not sure. Thanks to all of you who supported us and came to our shows and made it so fun for us.
Tragic Girls End Up Like This sprung out of the previous New Orleans dyke rock outfit, Ovary Action, containing two of its three former members, Sarah Brooks and Erin Dwyer. After Ovary Action disbanded, these two joined up with friends who were seeking to also be in a rock and roll band, Emily Elhaj, The Sherv, and Cassia Gammill, and they found that they all had compatible musical tastes and visions. After playing shows around New Orleans for a few months at venues such as the Howlin Wolf, the Mermaid Lounge, the Hi Ho Lounge, and Cafe Brasil, the girls were invited to play at Ladyfest in Austin, Texas which has been one of the highlights of their career. Tragic Girls are also a steady opening act for Girl Gang Productions, who have booked them with such bands as The Butchies, Robosapien, and The Dolly Ranchers. Combining feminist and pro-queer attitudes and thoughtful lyrics with a wall of sound that is at once fierce and vulnerable, Tragic Girls hope to be playing in your town soon.
