Performed/played by Dege Legg, and recorded by Frank Owen, while living in a Trailer park near Scott, Louisiana: 2004; Status: Unreleased. Improv, Instrumental Soundtrack for a Non-Existent Film known as "Trailerville." 20 Ambient, Hypnotic, Southern-Inflected, Instrumental, Bad-Meditation Road-Trip Music Tracks.

THE STORY. TRAILERVILLE. In short, 2004. Winter. I was living in a wasteland trailerpark, going nowhere, burnt out, lost. Stonecold Loser. Trying to figure out what in the fuck I was gonna do with my life and shit. My old band & best friends, Santeria, had split up after 10yrs of many gigs, tours, and whatnot. 10yrs is pretty long run. Most make it to 3. A few 5. It's kind of like getting a divorce from 5 of yr best friends when you split. Almost all of them got engaged or married, right after. Some moving away. It was time to end; we all needed a break. But what do you do when you break? So I lived in Cheap Motels for a year. Got tired of whores and crackheads, knocking on my door. So I moved in a trailer. While later, neighbor Frank moved in. He heard me doing these guitar, boredom, improv exercises that I do with a delay pedal and schadoodle for a hour or two to kill time. He liked it. Asked if he could set up a mic and a minidisc and record it. Said Ok. 3days later, we had about 3-4 disc worth of stuff. I thought it was alright. Most people think of trailerparks and think of Pantera and AC/DC or country music. I like to riff/express the sad, sweet, lonely side of living in these places and the Deep South, in general. There's a slow-motion poeticism and beauty to it that I don't think has been expressed much in music these days. People just wanna go, "HA HA! Hayseeds and trailerparks!" There's small-sad dreams, rumbling around in those places that are 10x purer than most suburbanite's ambitions, in my opinion. Yeh, you got the drama/etc, but you've also got people living on wheels in a forgotten box. Whatever, I played the shit. Frank recorded it. And I forgot about it after that. He took the discs and occasionally burnt comps of the stuff for friends and such. People liked it. His girlfriend played it on her computer at work and the Old Ladies even liked it. It kinda plays like meditation music that they sell at new age shops. I moved out of the trailerpark months later. Went to Los Angeles, to do some stuff there, then I bailed on it and came home. Back to the same fucking trailerpark, but I had to sleep on Frank's floor cuz my old trailer was rented out, by some nutters. I slept on the floor in the backroom, about the size of a walk-in closet. Then I moved out. Cut to '06: I get a few requests from people who'd heard Frank's burns of the "Trailerville stuff." I'm like, "Oh, yeh. I forgot about that shit." Then they want a copy, so I start bugging Frank a little about it. And guess what? He can't find the discs. He's moved 3x since then and all his shits lost and mixed up. So I bug him over the next few months to keep looking for the original discs. Eventually, he finds them. And there you have it.

How do you pronounce your name? It's hard to brag about your brilliance when we don't know the pronounciation. ;-)
