In 1997, a young man in Memphis named Bear decided to go Christmas caroling with a few of his friends. The next year, his friend and fellow University of Memphis alum Donnie grabbed his guitar and joined the group in what became an annual tradition.
A few years later, Bear and Donnie found themselves living just west of Denver, Colorado and continued their tradition of Christmas caroling, inviting anyone who wanted to come along. As other good musicians came and went every year, they began to mix in a few of their favorite classic rocks songs.
Early in 2005, just after another Christmas season, five of the carolers decided that making music was just too much fun to do it only in December, and made it a year-round pastime. Bear, Donnie, Nick, Rob, and Tony began practicing regularly in Donnie's basement, and TrainWreck was formed. Later that summer, Waldo stopped by Donnie's basement to jam with the band on the keyboards, and he never left.
In late 2008, original member Nick decided it was time to concentrate more on some of his own original music in his home studio. To TrainWreck, it was like losing a member of the family, but guitarist and friend of the band Kelso stepped in, and this TrainWreck has remained on its tracks! The band still looks forward to seeing their good friend Nick on occasion, listening to his latest efforts, and picking up the guitars for old time's sake.
TrainWreck has gone from Donnie's basement to playing weddings, parties, events, and several bars in the Denver area as well as in the mountain towns in the foothills of the Rockies. They are a little bit country, a little bit bluegrass, a little bit blues, and a whole bunch of rock and roll. The six friends have a blast every time they play. Check them out, and you're bound to have a great time too!
